Fashion Indie’s Accomplishments
• Formed a community partnership with Womensphere which organized the 2008 Women’s Leadership and Innovation Conference at the Grand Hyatt New York (February 2008). The “green” conference is designed to inspire, empower, and connect over 1,000 women leaders, managers, professionals, and future leaders towards more effective leadership, professional success, and personal fulfillment in 2008. Keynote Speakers include: Sally Durdan – CFO, Retail Financial Services, JPMorgan Chase; Aurora Rubin – Global Chief Ethics Officer, Deloitte Touch Tohmatsu; Rachel Mayanja– Assistant Secretary-General; Freada Kapor Klein – Founder, Level Playing Field Institute; Kim Slicklein – CEO & Founder, Enclave Rising; Marsha Firestone – President & Founder, Women Presidents Organization; Saranne Rothberg – CEO & Founder, Comedy Cures Foundation, named by Oprah as one of Top 100 Most Inspiring People!; and Carla Harris – Managing Director, Head of Equity Private Placements & Global Capital Markets, Morgan Stanley.
• Participated in the production of the Eleventh Annual Pink Tie Ball of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, North Jersey Affiliate (the largest annual fundraising event in New Jersey) at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark, NJ. Speakers for the 1,100-guest gala included New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine and Honorable Mayor Cory Booker. Integrated sustainability elements into the event including a cherry blossom tree-planting program recognizing sponsors’ contributions, organic menus, recycled printed materials and “green” hospitality bag items. Provided an online presence for the gala through an event Website and an online auction/volunteer recruitment site. Sponsors included: Roche; Continental Airlines; Novartis Pharmaceuticals; Schering-Plough Corporation; Sanofi-Aventis; Merck & Co. Inc.; PriceWaterhouseCoopers LLP; Tiffany & Company; and Xerox Corporation.
• Partnered with Action Against Hunger and Chefs for Humanity to produce the First Annual Restaurants Against Hunger Celebrity Kickoff. The 700 -guest event held at the Altman Building in New York, featured 30 celebrity chefs and designers and a food/wine tasting from over 20 of New York City’s most recognized restaurants and beverage companies.
• Provide support and coordinated the 550-guest 21st Annual K.I.D.S./Fashion Delivers Gala at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel New York that featured Senator Barack Obama as keynote speaker and NY Yankee, Jorge Posada as one of the honorees. Guests included senior executives from the fashion industry and high-level US politicians.
• Was in charge of celebrity wrangling and protocol at the 350-guest awards gala at the United Nations’ headquarters in New York City for the international launch of the non-profit, the Loomba Trust. The group, led by Tony Blair’s wife, Cherie Booth honored three high-profile people, including Yoko Ono, for their work on behalf of women and children around the world.
• Helped produce the 350-guest Third Annual Dining Spaces Tabletop Design Competition and Fundraiser, benefiting Susan G. Komen For the Cure, North Jersey Affiliate. Event drew about 15 corporate partners including Tiffany and Co. Program highlights included a competition of tabletop designs created by top event designers and educational sessions delivered by leading design experts.
• Assisted in the day-of-event coordination for Two Towns in Harmony symphony concert and festival, a joint initiative by the National Endowment for the Arts and the American Composers forum. With an Orchestra of 300, the event generated a turnout of over 4,000 attendees.
