as an apparel designer, creative director, former fashion photog and model i'd have to say i prefer the michael kors ads to diddy's. visually they're more appealing (ie. composition), tell a story and convey a real sense of style that is the foundation of the product'a consumer appeal.

diddy's ad is visually less appealing and basically says, "i'm diddy and you're not (and never will be)". i actually really like and respect sj and everything he does from music to apparel and beyond. he's really a smart business man. i've heard him talk about what he does and he exudes an amazing blend of business acumen and street savvy. but i'd never put him in an ad even for his own product because his persona is so strong that it overpowers any message you're trying to convey other than "i'm diddy and you're not...".
