I understand what racism is and I'm not implying that homosexuals are a race in the traditional sense of black & white. What I'm pushing for here is a redefinition or inclusion of the term "racist" (yay, lowercase) for the purpose of shaming individuals who choose to adhere to behaviors or beliefs that restrict the rights of anyone, be them black, hispanic, asian or gay.

Definitions change and the current definition of racist isn't inclusive enough to cover a new batch of oppressors which hide behind the veil of "religious righteousness" to treat select human beings like second class citizens. This is our generations civil rights movement and we need to be armed with the same verbal artillery that former activists employed. Martin Luther King and Malcolm X weren't afraid to call racists racist, and neither should we.

Also keep in mind that Racist and Racism isn't only pertaining to those who cause violence or make derogatory comments. Racism is a predisposition to view those who aren't like you negatively. You don't have to act on your beliefs to be racist.

Prejean is racist and allowing her to speak on a national talk show about her racism is just furthering the pain and suffering of a group of people who don't choose to be gay, but are born homosexual, individuals who want nothing more than to be able to enjoy the same rights that every citizen of America already enjoys.

Why are we allowing segregation to continue? Why are we allowing racism to continue?

So call those who hate gays exactly what they are. RACISTS. cause that's the only way we're going to defeat this new form of hate.

It's not racism by definition (we gays are not a "race"), but it is absolutely the same level of discrimination. the 1st and 14th amendment allow us to speak our minds, but lets face it, if a black woman had called and she had walked off the show, it would have been HORRIFIC. and RACIST. so why isn't it BIGOTRY when she treats a gay person that way?

Please explain that to me. I'm pretty sure walking out on someone is demonstrating that one thinks one is superior than that person.

I'm also pretty sure that not being allowed to marry implies we are second-class. The part in the bible that says it's a sin to lay down with another man? It's right next to the part that says you can't eat seafood. And the part that says you can't lay down with a woman while she's on the rag, or for 7 days afterward.

Honestly, I don’t give a shit about Prejean, or Larry King, or the gay pageant fan caller. What I do care is RIGHTS (same emphasis as your RACIST). And politics, and government, and all that other shit that you might not find interesting. But I also care about the website, that I read daily, and especially follow your posts. I personally find that you write about interesting ideas, lines, and people- and overall have great respect for you. But to read this silly article, on the supposed racist, was quite insulting. It had no read basis, no facts, and was very biased.

Although, I can see your side of the argument (a very passionate one I might add), and agree that Carrie Prejean isn’t the most tactful, or polite…she is not a racist (or RACIST!!!! as you put it).

First of all, lets see the definition of a racist,
: a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race.

Then, lets apply that definition to Prejean…
She has never said any derogatory remarks toward gays. She has not done anything violet or disruptive, and has not endangered the lives of anyone, including the gay people. She has spoken her mind- in accordance to the 1st and 14th Amendments, and the protected free speech clause. She has not stated that she is superior to anyone, and has not said that gay people are below her, and has not acted in ways that might imply that. Therefore she is not a racist. Therefore your argument is very biased, and incorrect.

So, what I want to say is this: Yes, shes a bitch, who should shut up and realize that her 15 minutes have ended...but your post is misleading, and very biased, and does not measure up to previous, very interesting, posts by You.

xx
Noel
