Sonnet Models has just announced its partnership with Boxeight Studios in Los Angeles. For their Sonnet Face of the World modeling competition, which will include one male and one female winners, a photoshoot will take place with top fashion photographer Peter Gurnz of Boxeight Studios, as well as earning priority to be signed up by Sonnet’s model agency partners.
Sonnet Models is a Cambridge-based company which operates via a Facebook application, the first of its kind. Although not a modelling agency, it’s in partnership with over 22 modelling agencies across the world with big names such as Elite, Click, Contempo, Scene, Platform etc across the world. Complete list of agencies can be found here.
The way it operates is that users sign up and upload their photos on Sonnet Models. It will then be in the pool for votes where members of the public vote each picture under the category it was submitted for-beauty, friendliness and sophistication. The system was built by a group of Cambridge-grad mathematicians using advanced algorithms and it also serves as an advanced search engine for the partner agencies to scout for new faces.
Boxeight Studios is an L.A-based art production company who hosts well-known events in Los Angeles including Boxeight L.A Fashion Week, the annual art exhibition, “I Think It’s Art, I Think It’s Fashion” as well as other areas covering music, art and special parties. Boxeight is also known for their commercial fashion photography with photographers such as Peter Gurnz and Dirk Mai. These names are synonymous with cool in the L.A scene.
Currently there are over 3,000 registered models and over 50,000 votes recorded on Sonnet Models. The company launched its Sonnet Face of the World competition on July 1st, 2009 and it has been featured on Forbes.com, Reuters, AOL Business etc.
This is a great chance for undiscovered and aspiring models to gain recognition in the tough industry of modeling. It is also the first of its kind as there is nothing like it before-the innovative design of the application on Facebook that is legitimately in partnership with established modeling agencies across the world, as well as an art production company such as Boxeight.

Just a VENT 4 the Love of Fashion
Edited by admin
I’m kicking myself as I’m working patiently @ my desk, waiting for the bell to ring (quitting time), for not jumping out of my current job situation to NY where I want to be to pursue my dream of becoming a Fashion Stylist. WTF????
Now, it’s like – “Be Thankful that you have a job” or “A lot of people would love to switch places with you” which is true! Very Thankful and blessed for my current status. NO if’s and’s but’s about it!
So, as i’m drumming my fingers on the desk, skimming thru all the intl magz and online fashion stuff, i continue 2 think, life is just 2 short. Do i jump out there to NY and hit the pavement running, with the etchy economic status the way it is, live from couch 2 couch, eating street meat (love Halal food) and make it happen. I’ve also thought about going to Europe, enrolling in school and just getting a different eye opener on Fashion from their standpoint.
Do I stand a better chance in Europe? different culture, different exposure….
So, I’m standing my ground, saving my mucho dinero, continue to do my research; writing everything down everything i see, participate in, breathe in dealing with Fashion and hopefully I will be that Fashion Stylist I’ve always wanted to be! Now back to work!
Thanks 4 allowing me to Vent…..
