Veronique Leroy pieced together a collection that proved that dressing maturely did not mean dressing frumpily. Nudes, greys and whites set the color palette while the clothing remained structured but not necessarily fitted. Leroy attempts to bring back white shoes “after labor day” (as this is the fall collection) yet watching a model lose a white pump twice did not seem like the best advertisement for them. However, the collection did have some very nice moments when the designer played with textures by mixing lace with fur pieces. You can see most of the collection below – sorry for some of the semi-blurry pictures, you can only do so much from the third row!

I must admit that I haven’t heard of Luis Buchinho before attending his show, but his collection proved to be stunning (albiet a bit scattered at times). Luis Buchinho celebrates his 20th anniversary with a stunning collection inspired by 70s eccentricity and 90′s minimalism. The designer plays with texture with a variety of fabrics ranging from wool to leather. But the shoes are what caught my eye, the thick strap heels coupled with (what look like) fish-fin leg cuffs is brilliant! See more of the collection below:

I was lucky enough to attend the Fatima Lopes show here in Paris, and it was a wonderful melange of fantasy and art. The pieces were very detailed and the collection seemed to revolve around very intricate structural pleats. The shoes were a hybrid between a boot, a stiletto, and a platform – absolutely ingenious. However the best part of the show, by far was the elaborate hairstyles. Check them out for yourself!

I’ll be the first to admit that I never quite got over the Balmain FW 10 show with the magnificent blue stripes and of course the infamous military jacket. It’s very interesting to see how these pieces get re-interpreted so that they are what some might deem “wearable”. It’s a shame really, because I would argue that almost anything is wearable, but ofcourse, the general public seem to think that anything “abnormal” is weird.

Freja has always be one of my favorite models and perhaps it’s because she has a killer sense of style. Her black-on-black ensemble is both edgy and cohesive. She flirts with grunge but doesn’t go overboard, now if that’s not a talent, I don’t know what is.

I have always been a fan of wedges, but these beauties cause some serious shoe envy. The cutouts make the sandal very appropriate for spring, and the color is absolutely divine. Personally, nude tones are my calling for spring. The silhouette of her jacket is also gorgeous, and the pop of color around her neck is a great finishing touch!
