Dior, Not War.
Taking the shame out of those typically awkward morning afters, An Vandevorst and Filip Arickx played around with the sexy sheerness of underwear. By turning light and flowing slips into see-through pants, billowing blouses and oversized, masculine blazers, the A.F. Vandervorst Spring 2010 collection is certainly disheveled chic. I love
Just when you thought drop-crotch pants couldn’t get any more dramatic, the designers at Juma send a drop-crotch jumpsuit our way! Perfect for layering and ever better for the warmer months, this awesome piece combines two huge trends in one.

Balenciaga? Is that you? I never pegged Nicolas Ghesquière as a hoodie and jeans type, but it’s different, so I’ll take it! The Balenciaga Spring 2010 was athletic while retaining it’s shock and awe, classiness. While I’m not terribly crazy about the garments that resemble a child’s canvas, I am
Junya Watanabe not only brought us his infamous crazy headgear, but a collection filled with the trendy menswear for women. Checkered black and white pieces served as safe, yet fun, patterns juxtaposed with Watanabe’s suits, skirts and tights. Everything was rather expected from a Japanese designer, but blowing me out
Haider Ackermann Spring 2010 felt a little like modern day military. Blacks, dark navys and subdued mustards comprised a collection that resembled army parachuters and front line soldiers. As always, loving the leather straps and angular, open front dresses.
Intermix launched their Marilyn Minter x Intermix bag today to benefit breast cancer awareness. “Bright Pink,” it is in conjunction with October Breast Cancer Awareness month, released this cute golden tongue tote bag that you can snag online at Intermix here!
Sticker books, crotchless chaps, oversized diapers, skinful va-jay jays and used tissues? If you ask me, these were probably the inspirations for the Maison Martin Margiela Spring 2010 collection. Needless to say, MAJOR LETDOWN. Overall, things looked like a middle school craft project- poor construction, cheap materials and minimal heart.
With a hint of military inspiration carried over from seasons past, Rei Kawakubo’s Comme des Garçons Spring 2010 collection is a mix of old-school military garb and the typical craziness associated with the label. As a big fan of shoulder pads, it goes without saying that I’m head over heels
How Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren achieved their cutout ball-gowns this seasons is a physics lesson that goes way over my head. Viktor & Rolf sheds a whole new light on the use of tule, from blazer edges to full tiered skirts. To the fait of heart, much of the
Ann Demeulemeester has done it again! Combining the world’s two sexiest elements, leather and skin, Demeulemeester’s Spring 2010 collection is a minimalist version of biker-chic. We’ve seen a lot of leather this season, and while I can’t get enough of it, the best part of Demeulemeester’s collection is undoubtedly the
The rebranding of Nina Ricci was inevitable with the recent replacement of Olivier Theyskens. Peter Copping introduced a much softer vibe to the label, bringing some girly, somewhat Victorian, tiered dresses and little cardigan numbers. The collection was “pretty,” far from the edgy, mysterious look Theyskens contributed to the label.
While retaining his dark aesthetic, Rick Owens lightened up and smoothed out for his Spring 2010 collection. Pieces were angular and relatively clean cut, but encompassed some baggy draping as balance. Owens utilized some showstopping embellishments but a feather-ploom burst and dramatic, over the shoulder, collars.
A little (but very reliable) bird, who happened to attend Marc Jacobs’ Spring 2010 show, told us that Lady Gaga stood at the show. The front row/ standing room issue has been an ongoing debate lately, but to not have Gaga sitting front and center, let alone not sitting at
If Limi Feu’s Spring 2010 doesn’t have Japanese style written all over it, I don’t know what does. Daughter of designer Yohji Yamamoto, Limi Yamamoto certainly followed in her father’s footsteps this season with a collection that was more androgynous than a kid on Christopher Street (She even used male
Gareth Pugh broke away from his traditional clean lines and angular structure for his Spring 2010 collection. Combining menswear and womenswear in one show, Pugh introduced a plethora of shredded gothic pieces along with some corset-like, silhouette conscious ones. Pleated pants landed among my list of favorites, but with a
Unconditional might have just made the be-all, end-all jeans of the century. Not only are they skinny leg drop crotch pants, they have full length zippers down the leg!

Lisa Mayock and Sophie Buhai, designers of Vena Cava, recently designed a pair of high-top Converse sneakers for the 1HUND(RED) project, an organization striving to eliminate AIDS in Africa. The limited edition kicks look similar to their recent collection for The Gap.
Thanks Teen Vogue!
I might idolize Erin Wasson, but charging $160 and claiming profound fashion design on her Erin Wasson x RVCA splatter paint, inside-out fleece pants is completely ridiculous. I came across these at Opening Ceremony this weekend, and yeah, they look pretty cool, but these are totally a DIY project and NOT

I’m finally making the switch to an Apple iPhone this December, and while I intended to snag one of those awesome cork cases, I think I’m going to show Gareth Pugh some support and invest in one of his iPhone or Macbook cases from Colette and AnOther Magazine. They’re not cheap, setting
Ever since last year’s Comme des Garcons x H&M collection, I’ve gotten pretty excited to see new collaborations hit the streets…Sonia Rykiel is an exception. H&M’s newest collaboration may be a bigger disappointment than the Matthew Williamson collection (and that’s saying something…) Really, H&M didn’t need Sonia Rykiel’s expertise to
I’ve never sat back and said, “Ugh, I wish I had her life,” but this photo is a perfect example of why I idolize Erin Wasson. Fur, gladiators, piled on jewelry, biker shorts, wind-blown hair- God, style after my own heart!
Thanks Le Fashion!
