“I would love to get an award for making people have more sex through my images. It would be a great award. Imagine the design of that award!”
-Carine Roitfeld, to ACNE Paper, S/S 2009.
“Basically, here’s my whole thing, Unless I’m dressed to the nines all the time, all the time in my life, from head to toe in the best possible gear, then I’m not happy at all.”
-Shia LaBeouf
Really? Shia, do you know what “dressed to the nines” means?! You look like you’re off to
We’ve finally been able to ID the gladiators that Mary-Kate’s been running around in for the last month! You can’t get them anywhere yet because they’re part of the forthcoming footwear collab between the Olsens’ Elizabeth & James label and Steve Madden.
The “Edge” gladiator sandal is one style from the
Alasdair McLellan shot Agyness Deyn for the Summer 2009 issue of Berlin-based magazine 032c. Love the cover layout, but why the censorship?
Michelle Alves is featured on a stand-out cover for May 2009. Steven Klein shot this for Vogue Brazil at a Madonna concert last year.
Usually backgrounds are just empty space or a beach setting, but the non-US mags really know how to switch it up. I love Michelle’s styling (simple jeans enhanced by
Can we now consider nipple tassels part of the fashion world?
Vogue UK wants you to think so, in their June “Show and Tell” spread.
Guinevere van Seenus posed for Paolo Roversi in this burlesque-inspired spread, full of American Apparel, Agent Provocateur, Armani, and lots of sequins.

A de-eyebrowed Sasha Pivovarova posed for Steven Meisel for the May 2009 issue of Vogue Italia.
It’s a good cover just on fashion principle alone. Unlike virtually every spring issue cover, the colors are neutral and based in earth tones, and the model is all bundled up. It stands out for not
Stella McCartney’s exclusive capsule collection for Net-a-Porter, is now available as a multimedia shopping experience.
The first portion, comprised of looks from the first short film, “Magnolia Tree,” features springy jumpsuits and dresses in neutrals – and those wonderful mesh basket sandals that Mary-Kate has been sporting lately.
As the week goes
This seems like a weird move on ELLE’s part, but they’ve revealed Megan Fox as the covergirl for their June 2009 issue.
She hasn’t done what I would consider a “real” movie, and I think most of her tattoos are lame — but she sure does photograph well! So it all
After being a little off the fashion radar for a bit, Hilary Rhoda hits the pages of WSJ magazine in swimwear by Eres, Gucci, Chanel, and Norma Kamali.
The May 2009 issue also cites her in the list of contributors, thereby giving models just a little more credit.
The spread, shot in Miami, features
Oh, Hot Topic.
The only good part about this black patent stiletto (with built-in bottle opener) is that you have to be really skilled to be able to use it without flashing everyone at the party. If you can pull that off, you deserve to wear whatever you want. Ug, circular logic, perhaps,
This is Dolce & Gabbana? I’m with Obsessed With Shoes in the disbelief boat.
Their Fall 2009 shoe collection brings us chunky suede wedges, gold wedges with black ruffles, and just weirdness. There’s nothing cohesive about the collection except the gross shade of pink. The shoes don’t even have an ugly-cool vibe,
Tarina Tarantino recruited a very put-together Kelly Osbourne for an LA photoshoot this week.
To promote Tarantino’s new jewelry collection, “The Wizard of Oz,” Kelly donned a retro-inspired beige suit and classy red lipstick and nails.
Check out some photos of Kelly on set and behind the scenes.

British model Alexa Chung looks incredible in the May 2009 issue of Harper’s Bazaar UK.
The styling isn’t terribly ground-breaking, but it’s great for spring; and more importantly it suits her well. Alexa wears a mix of delicate pieces fit for a princess – like the S/S 2009 Giambattista Valli dress on
You probably know that Angelina Jolie did some modeling as a teenager. A new batch of vintage Angie has surfaced, and she has miraculously looked the same (stunning! but maybe with a different nose these days…) for 15 years.

Maiden-Art is an Italian brand of men’s and women’s clothing, accessories, and jewelry. Highly conceptual and design-oriented, the artsy label is even planning a magazine and music label for Spring 2010.
“The Black Vinyl’s Collection,” for F/W 2009, is all black and white (although I saw a couple blue pieces in the
Mary-Kate Olsen enjoyed the New York heat this weekend on a bike ride with boyfriend Nate Lowman. People matched up an image of a pedaling MK in windblown hair, layered necklaces, and Lennon-style sunglasses, with an eerily similar image of Ozzy Osbourne.
Prince of Darkness vs Fashion Princess. Who rocks the
Camilla Akrans shot Devon Aoki for this sexy spread in the June 2009 issue of Vogue Nippon. Devon plays up her cat ears accessory so well, the fact that the Alexander Wang mesh dress is still in rotation flies right under the radar.
Who better to rock some Chloë than Chloe? The leggy Ms. Sevigny showed up to celebrate the opening of a new Chloe boutique in Los Angeles Thursday night.
To co-host the event, Chloe wore a navy blue pant suit with scalloped shotrs and a white blazer with scalloped lapel, both from
NYLON gave us a sneak peek at Shipley & Halmos’ upcoming, exclusive line for UNIQLO. I’m generally a big fan of their designs; and these looks are cute, but nothing special in my eyes.
First announced in January, the capsule collection hits stores on May 7.

Hot on the heels of the mesh craze popularized by Henry Holland’s dresses and Stella McCartney’s sandals — and on the heels of the YSL cage heels — comes another holey look.
Perforated accessories are popping up all over the place this Spring; and The Pipeline has a delicious look at this season’s
Nicole Richie shows she’s the best representative of her own collection in the new lookbook for her House of Harlow 1960 accessories line.
In the Spring/Summer 2009 lookbook, a pre-pregnancy Nicole models her own vintage-inspired designs, which sell at Kitson and Shopbop, most for under $100.

Karl Lagerfeld shot Emma Watson (styled like a miniature Tilda Swinton!) for the new issue of French magazine Crash.
It looks like her issue, #49, was released in March, but the kinda-cute, kinda-creepy spread is just starting to circulate now.
