BEAUTY SPARK: I Just Got Beat Up Look all indie

Make up artist David Hernandez is tired of the ‘grey smokey’ look and likes to update the trend by using bold bright colors such as raspberry, yellow, and blue. His inspiration: “Think Greta Garbo. I went for a vintage 40s look, with really smoked out eyes. A little bit undone, but also very classy.”

Try this look at home:

RASPBERRY
Start by swirling MAKE UP FOR EVER Plum (#39) around the whole eye – up to the brow bone and under eye.  Follow up using Matte Dark Purple # 160 as a liner, and smoke out the eye.  Top this (and the two other smoky looks) with lots of lashes – David’s pick is MAKE UP FOR EVER’s wispy, longer false lashes to counteract the intensity of the eye.   Finally, finish with MAKE UP FOR EVER’s Lipstick in Pearl Raspberry #412.

YELLOW
For this look, David anchored a bright canary hue by mixing in a splash of burnt orange.  Start with MAKE UP FOR EVER Yellow Gold #10 all over, from brow bone to under eyes, then smudge a reddish brown into the crease (try Terra Cotta #30).  Top it off by using Matte True Brown #162 as a liner to smoke out the eye, then finish up with MAKE UP FOR EVER’s Lipstick in a medium mauve like #420.
BLUE-BLACK
Start with Slate Grey #33 around the whole eye, then smudge Navy Blue #60 up to the crease, finishing with Black #4 as a liner.  The final effect will be a smoky eye that starts black, fades to blue, and ends in grey.  Last touch?  Lipstick shade #427, Pearly Angel Rose.
