A passion for fashion brought together Antonio Patruno Randolfi, Luigi Arbore and Massimo Mazzilli. Together, they founded a new brand in Italy, Cor Sine Labe Doli literally “A heart with no betrayal blemish,” a name inspired by the coat of arms of their home town in Puglia, Corato. The human body is a canvas, and there’s no one better than accessories designer Marlous de Roode to seal the deal on that idea. Playing with the contours of the human body, de Roode creates a variety of handmade bags, jewelry and blankets that interact with the body. Whether strapping around the waist or clipping over the shoulders, de Roode’s work is truly unique and one of a kind.

My new favorite upcoming designer, Pedro makes clothes that are not only wearable, they are structurally genius (inspired by architecture). He is only 19, just graduated Central Saint Martins, yet his design aesthetic is so sophisticated. Both of both of his parents are designers, which helps, and Pedro is working quite hard at making a name for himself, separating himself from parental association and associating himself with the likes of Brana Wolf.

Dice Kayek is one of the most known fashion brands of Turkey, established in 1991 by Dilara Akay, Ece Ege, Ayse Ege and A. Akay. The designs are very geometric and revolve around the idea of abstracting form. Will have more info on the brand soon, but for now, check out the Spring/Summer 2010 collection here.

Yesterday night we attended the Japan fashion Week preview which will take place from the 22nd to the 28th of March in Tokyo. Eight designers (Aptform, Chaolu Lab, Mikio Sakabe, Naoshi Sawayanagi, Shida Tatsuya, The dress & Co by Hideaki Sakaguchi, Tiny Dinosaur, and YU) presented pieces from their upcoming collections. This preview really made us want to go to Tokyo for the Japan Fashion Week.

“At the Dior show, trying to fight my way backstage to get a quote from John Galliano, I nearly fell over a tiny, grey-haired woman who, from the back, I took to be a septuagenarian Japanese fashion fanatic, as she was dressed head-to-toe in Comme des Garçons. When she was ushered into the inner sanctum before me, and turned around, I saw, with a sick lurch, that it was actually Tavi Gevinson…Had I not been so busy trying to attract Galliano’s attention, I would have asked Mr Gevinson why he thought it was right to take his daughter out of school to go to haute couture shows, where she would be treated like a celebrity by paparazzi? Or why he thought it OK for her to model for Pop and Love magazines last year?”
