Following the June release of ‘NARS Loves Chicago’ set, Francois Nars will personally (he will be at Saks on October 8th, 1:30-3:00pm for customer appointments) release his ‘NARS Loves NY’ set which contains an assortment of four classic products resurrected from the archives for the women of New York and re-named after iconic names in the city.

“I wanted something rich and creamy and sexy, but still youthful.”

I think it’s actually called ‘Débauche de Pigments’ but close enough.

Yes, we’ve written about colored mascara before, but it’s currently a major beauty trend and now comes in a ton of different colors like amber, garnet, amethyst and emerald.

Lately I have been OBSESSED with vivid colors and textures. I want to paint every face I see in vibrant colors and dip them in glitter and diamonds. I have visions of Fuchsia cheeks, Chartreuse eyelids, Yellow lips. Yes, I said yellow lips… Don’t knock it til you’ve tried it.

Like I said, I’m a little obsessed with color these days, maybe more than a little obsessed.

I have come across a photographer who apparently feels the same I do about color and texture and has some serious photography skills to properly highlight it. I am completely enamored of her work. Her name is Daniela Glunz and she is amazing. It’s like her photos are ALIVE and they are living VIVIDLY. The colors and the textures just about jump off the page at you.

Now, being a makeup artist I feel I must mention that she obviously works with some incredibly talented MUAs. That being said however, a MUA can paint a face and 2 different photogs can take a pic of said face and you will see 2 completely different pictures. Us MUAs are essential but so is a photographer’s skill and vision. Daniela Glunz’s skill and vision are outstanding and extraordinary…

As a makeup artist/beauty blogger, the questions I get asked most frequently involve eye liner application. Applying eye liner correctly can be tricky. The trickiest look of all is the “winged eye”. It took me years to perfect it. Well…years and a fabulous “how-to” video I came across awhile back. Before I came across this priceless video tutorial I was able to apply a winged eye on my clients and myself but it took some time and was super frustrating. This tutorial makes it so simple anyone can do it. I was going to keep it my little secret but since one of the purposes of this blog is share my beauty knowledge I have decided to share it with all of my readers. You’re Welcome;)

You will only need two items for the perfect winged eye look:

Surgical Tape. Any brand will do and you can find it at any drugstore (Walgreens, CVS, Harmon, Rite Aid, etc).

Eyeliner. You can use whatever brand you prefer and chose the form that works best for you such as liquid, cream or pencil. My favorite is Chantecaille’s Le Stylo $26 (above)

I’m all for wild ideas and unique inspiration, but StrangeBeautiful’s founder Jane Schub has taken it to a whole new level. The new line, Color Volume 3, consists of eight polishes that really let us in on how “To Be Strange is to be Beautiful”. Inspirations include “the saturated rusty iron color of an Irish bog, veins of green mold running through Roquefort, the dreadfully wonderful dirty almond color used on kitchen appliances, the belly of a pigeon, the artist Sean Scully, aged armagnac, the rich black olive green color of Loden cloth, and the dull brown red of Redrope files.”
