Dakota Fanning looked beyond adorable Wednesday night at the People’s Choice Awards in Los Angeles.

With little or no makeup to speak of, and a short but tasteful dress, Dakota looks her age (14!), but incredibly classy.

With little more than a week before Barack Obama is to be sworn in, the country hasn’t been this excited for an incoming president since another stylish set of Democrats moved into the White House back in the ’60s. To mark the occasion and commemorate John F. Kennedy’s timeless style, Omega has reissued the ultra thin timepiece the man wore during his inauguration on January 20th, 1961.

The company crafted a limited run of 261 watches, with the same 18-karat gold casing and slim black crocodile leather strap as the original. Yes, it’ll cost you a pretty penny, but then again, it’s probably cheaper than a ticket to the inauguration.

FYI: JFK original, which was given to him on the campaign trail by his friend Grant Stockdale, was purchased by Omega at auction in 2005 for $350,000.

William Rast,  Justin Timberlake’s line, will make its Bryant Park debut next month when it holds its spring show at the tents during New York Fashion Week.

“The show is scheduled for Feb. 16 at 7 p.m. And for those who might anticipate a concert, there won’t be one. A spokeswoman for William Rast said that while Timberlake is scheduled to be present at the show, there will be no performance. This will be the brand’s second show during fashion week in New York. The last show, in September, was held at the Roseland Ballroom when a Timberlake performance was rumored but never materialized, much to the anger of attendees.”

Elvis, who would have celebrated his 74th birthday today, was more than blue suede shoes, capes, and jumpsuits.  

Like his music, Elvis’ fashion sense fused a variety of influences.  A true performer, Elvis’ style evolved over the course of his career, drawing inspiration from both his roots and personal tastes, and the styles of the time.  

Early on, Elvis sported the greasy black hair of a white Southern trucker (complete with sideburns) and the latest styles from black clothing stores.  By the 1960s, Elvis had been dying his hair black for several years and started a sort of hair-sculpting regimen. 

Before the theatrics of the ’70s, his style created a tight tension between good Southern boy and rock-and-roll bad boy.  Usually conservative looking –until he started moving– he often wore sharp suits, pegged pants, high collars, and the occasional pair of blue jeans.

Then over time he moved on to his Army fatigues, black leather, Aloha Eagle jumpsuit with cape, and flamboyant western outfits.

Well, we all make mistakes.  Whether a hit or miss, Elvis’ fashion will always be remembered for its individuality and influence on others.

Brad Pitt snagged the cover and a spread in the February issue of W magazine. When I first looked at the photos, my reaction wasn’t the most positive. But after scanning them for a few minutes, I warmed up to the rawness of his head shots. He looks very old Hollywood and handsome in the three inside photos; I don’t know if I would have picked this one for the cover though.

Scarlett Johannson looks fabulous on the February cover of Harper’s Bazaar. The blond bombshell is featured in a spread shot by photographer Alexi Lubomirski at the newly renovated Alice Tully Hall in New York’s Lincoln Center. The fantastic dress she’s wearing in the spread is a tulle number with organza flowers by Oscar de la Renta. In the article, Johannson talks about her engagement, dream role and pregnancy rumors.

On her engagement to Ryan Reynolds: “I wasn’t surprised that it was happening, but anyone being presented with a beautiful diamond ring, as a girl, you just squeal with delight. You say you can’t believe it, but of course you really can.”

On the press rumors that she’s pregnant: “I got these calls that I was engaged way before it happened. I’ve also been pregnant several times. With, like, sextuplets. That must mean I’ve been eating way too many bagels or something. I’m not pregnant and I’m not going to be anytime soon.”

On her dream role: “Every actor wants to work on a Western. I would run a brothel, like a madam or something. I’m working with what I got. It’s only so long that people are going to want to see me in a corset. So I might as well do it now.”

Kate Bosworth looks great in the new spread for Tank magazine. The American beauty shows off her edgy side, baring more than she usually does for the press. The nude makeup is absolutely perfect for the garments and mood of the photos. But I’m a little upset that Christmas has already passed because I want the shoes she’s wearing on the cover. I guess there’s always my birthday- February 10th Indies, write it down!

Karl Lagerfeld has shot Fendi’s latest campaign, and I must comment on how good it looks. The simplicity of the black chair in a white room really complements model Toni Garrn’s outfit. Her hair looks really wacky, but I love the dress, shoes, belt and bag. Perfect frock for an April Sunday brunch, yes?

But as of March of this year, Roberto “Excess is Success” Cavalli is trying to get in on the action with a snakeskin-finish credit card for the discerning shopper.

The iridescent card comes with its privileges: special sales at Cavalli, invites to fashion shows. Perhaps card members will gain access to Cavalli’s new club in Florence or clubs soon to open in Dubai and Milan.
