DESIGNER TO KNOW: Atos Lombardini

Atos Lombardini’s fall stuff is so killer! He adds touches of chains, leather, leopard, and foil, making for great funky pieces that I can’t wait to get my hands on! I’m dying over that military-inspired jacket with the chains on the shoulder!

LOOKBOOK: Pink Gets Down for Hart & Huntington

Pink gets down to her skivies for Hart & Huntington’s latest collection. The bad girl of music sexes up the shoot with her raw appeal. Me Likey.
Yohji Yamamoto Files For Bankruptcy
The future of Yohji Yamamoto is undoubtedly bleak. The Japanese designer recently filed for bankruptcy protection due to his $76 million debts. But there is hope; an investor offered to bail Yamamoto out and get this man back on his feet. The only question is, will Yamamoto be too proud to accept this financial help?
Thanks NY Mag!
RUNWAY: Hermès Spring 2010
Tennis is not my strong-suit, but it looks like it is Jean Paul Gaultier’s! Focusing on the preppy sport for the Hermès Spring 2010 collection, Gaultier showed several tennis tees and skirts that evolved into dresses, cardigans and flowing jacks and suits. Gaultier even threw in some leather , but let’s be honest, aren’t the fall colored chocolate brown and dark navy colors a little out of place for the lightness that is spring?
RUNWAY: Tim Hamilton Spring 2010
With the precision of menswear under his belt, Tim Hamilton’s Spring 2010 collection was basically masculine with just enough skin to sneak in a sexy, feminine flare. Hamilton kept the color palate simple with black, white and red, allowing the collection’s variety to seem endless. High-waisted, winged pants, oversized cardigans, tipped button-ups, body conscious shit dresses and miniature tube tops comprised the collection, while John Lennon, round sunglasses and a head-wrap made for must-have accessories
RUNWAY: Chloé Spring 2010
Branching nicely from her Fall 2009 collection, Hannah MacGibbon brought us some more relaxed, masculine, natural pieces for the Spring season. With a copious array of beige, khaki and cream colored dresses, trousers, suit coats and capes, the Spring 2010 collection aired on the side of casual, English countryside, with a bit of boyish comfort. MacGibbon traded in stilettos for some strappy, leather sandals, which trouser pants were tucked into. Disheveled, baggy and natural, I couldn’t ask for more!
RUNWAY: Miu Miu Spring 2010
Miuccia Prada had it raining cats and dogs (and birds!) at her Miu Miu Spring 2010 show in Paris. Prints were in full effect throughout the collection, decorating several high-waisted pantsuits, severe collared button ups, cropped jackets and pencil skirts. Some pieces ever aired on the revealing side, allowing sneak peeks of belly skin beneath the layers of tailored suiting. Long, scraggly braids complimented the looks well, adding a touch of carefree innocence to the collection.
RUNWAY: John Galliano Spring 2010
Inspired by the craziness that is Los Angeles, John Galliano’s Spring 2010 collection was all things symbolic of the City of Angels (although the red lazer lit runway looked more like devil!). As per usual, looks were over the top, clashing, somewhat gaudy and styled to the max- an obvious addition to the Galliano family. As separates, the variety of beige blazers and jackets were staple pieces, acting as a somewhat stable basis for the collection.
DESIGNER TO KNOW: Assad Mounser

Based in New York, Amanda worked for Moschino and the shoe designer Alejandro Ingelmo before starting Assad Mounser. The current collection is called ‘Space Oddity’ for the David Bowie song.
QUOTABLE: Antonio Marass, Designer for Kenzo

“I imagined a woman explorer who stopped in a Bertolucci movie, and I imagined her in these explorer-like military outfits from the desert, picking up local outfits and mixing them together in their own look. When you think of the desert you think of sandy colors, like beige and gray, but then there is the brightness of the sun. In these times, I wanted to send a message of vibrancy.”
LOOKBOOK PREVIEW: Urban Outfitters Holiday 09

A bit early for Holiday previews, but since we just saw Spring 2010, guess this isn’t far off.
LOOKBOOK: GF Ferre By Gianfranco Fall/Winter 2009

Amazing! I love this leather jacket, and since I’m in the market for one, I’m even more intrigued by this collection. There is something so simple about this lookbook that makes it brilliant. I’m not focused on the models or the background simply the looks.
RUNWAY: Louis Vuitton Spring 2010 Accessories

One amazing thing after another at Louis Vuitton. Love the cream colored moccasin booties.
VIDEO: Victoria’s Secret Casting at Yankee Stadium

On Saturday, thousands of girls showed up at Yankee Stadium for the chance to be a VS Angel.

ADDICT: Oliver Peoples Fall Campaign Featuring Shirley Manson And Elijah Wood

Shirley Manson (singer of Garbage) looks awesome (especially for 43!). I feel like you don’t see many red-headed models, and she’s successfully repping the haircolor. I think she looks like a red Kate Beckinsale in that last shot..no? This is a random combo. of people with Elijah Wood (looking hobbitlike), but I think they look great together. Great job, Oli.

RUNWAY: Kris Van Assche Spring 2010
Kris Van Assche’s Spring 2010 collection was nothing more than a few beautifully tailored blazers, oversized blouses, a-line dresses, trousers, band tops and high waisted skirts. Minimalism was the name of this designer’s game, but while garments remained simple, the leather shoes and belts made for enviable items. Totally loving the chocolate brown strap booties and it’s counterpart, skinny belt.
RUNWAY: Hussein Chalayan Spring 2010
Excuse me for my 90’s references, but Hussein Chalayan’s Spring 2010 collection reminded me of sexy and sinister Jessica Rabbit (from “Who Framed Roger Rabbit”). Blame it on those oversized, shadowy sun hats, but the whole collection screams evasive class. Cut-out suits complimented see through skirts and shorts, bringing a little drama back to the workplace.
