If I had to summarize Ennio Capasa’s Costume National Spring 2010 collection in 3 words, they would be skimpy, shimmery and ghastly. To say that runway radiated death would most assuredly be a negative comment in Capasa’s book, but according to me, the pale sheen against raw skin has a sexy, yet eerie, vibe. With a subtler version of the biker-chic trend, I’m loving the mini leathers as well as the thin, chain jewelry.

Dries Van Noten went a little retrograde on us this season, settling for his safe, signature ethnic patterns and pieces that are sure to sell out amongst his following customers. Khaki pants and shorts, wrapped psychedelic skirts, sparkled and sequined jackets and relaxed linens comprised the majority of Van Noten’s Spring 2010 collection. For a man who brought us a very minimalist Fall 2009 collection, this season is rather surprising, but ask a devout Van Noten fan and you’ll realize he’s just playing it safe.

It looks like someone paid attention in geometry class! Riccardo Tisci sent a range of Roman/Arabic inspired, geometrically appealing pieces down the runway for the Givenchy Spring 2010 collection. Hard edges are nothing new for the label, but making bold, zig-zags and subtle optical illusions pleasing is no easy task; this was a challenge Tisci definitely succeeded at! Completely loving the head to toe wrapped looks as well as all of this high waisted business!

Marc Jacobs read my mind…I’ve been raving about afros this entire season, and here they are, right on the runways of Paris. Here is what Marc said of his collection for Louis Vuitton: “Street clothes, embracing the hippie-cyber, tribal-punk world.”

Gaga showed her love for McQ with the premier of  “Bad Romance” at the Alexander McQueen show..check it out in the vid…I have NO idea how those models could walk in those shoes! I don’t mind the looks, but that hair is a bit ‘Coneheads’ for me.

Can’t say I’m too impressed by the men’s pieces in the collection, but the women’s looks great! Also, what’s with the lighting? Seems like all the details are washed out or lost because of the style of the photo.

Destroyed, androgynous, matronly, night-gown inspired biker chic? Huh, well, it seems to me that Yohji Yamamoto had several bases to cover for his Spring 2010 collection. That being said, the biker pieces were safe, the shredded pyjamas, probably unwearable, and the matronly maids outfits just downright ugly. As for the hair and makeup, they’re just the cherry on top of the “I’ve seen better from Yamamoto” sundae.

John Galliano travelled back in time to the 1940’s for his Spring 2010 collection, bringing some modern versions of mini trench coats and a hell-of- a lot of lingerie inspired pieces. Things remained pretty true to the Dior house, sexy while keeping classy and affluent. I can’t say there’s anything jaw dropping about this collection, but it’s gorgeous, so not too many complaints from this peanut gallery!

Taking the shame out of those typically awkward morning afters, An Vandevorst and Filip Arickx played around with the sexy sheerness of underwear. By turning light and flowing slips into see-through pants, billowing blouses and oversized, masculine blazers, the A.F. Vandervorst Spring 2010 collection is certainly disheveled chic. I love the styling in general, but nothing beats the sheer pants tucked into sheer thigh-high tights! This I have to try!
