I Like My Dancing Like I Like My Women. Slow.

Further proof that them Agentinians might be the coolest bunch of hispanicals on the planet. The hispicsters (spic + hipster) have taken slow dancing to a whole new level by actually encouraging people to dance slow. In our wonder age of breakneck speed and instant satisfaction it’s nice that some people want to take things slow, and when I say some people I mean 4000 people who gathered at the Buenos Aires Planetarium to dance to classics like “Lady in Red”.

I think we’re on to something here. Watch for a Fashion Indie hosted slow dance in the very, very near future. No joke. I really plan to do this soon. Actually, let’s make an announcement now.

Save the date: Thursday, June 12th; 8PM - 12AM; Fashion Indie Slow Dance. $5 Cover. Location to be announced. One Hour Open Bar.

Look Up in the Sky, It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane, It’s a New Exhibit at the MET (Oh, God I just Revealed My Corn. Apologies indies)

Iron Man at the MET

The Superheroes have arrived at the MET.

I’m heading there tomorrow, but I got a special preview of the event from the likes of The New York Times (photos in the Gallery).

Original costumes from Spiderman, X-Men and Iron Man are on display along with original works of fashion art from Alexander McQueen, Moschino, and Giorgio Armani. Two of my favorite things are together for the first time ever. I could ravage Anna Wintour right now. Shit, I think I wet myself.

Be sure to hit up the exhibit pronto. I might get arrested for trying to steal some items tomorrow, but if I can get into the Iron Man suit quick enough I should be able to blast past security and steal Mystique body suit from X-men to enjoy a superhuman rendezvous later in the evening. Seriously, these are the thoughts that run through my head during the day. I know. I need help

Gareth Pugh will be playing nice with the MisShapes for a party that only a select elite will be able to get into (that means all of you indies).  Definitely not the one to miss.

Hong Kong Phooey

Will they have the Hong Kong Sars masks? If we’re lucky, yes!!!

Hong Kong’s finest take up residence in NY for a full month to showcase some of Japan’s finest indie designers. Made in HK is a  pop-up shop which will feature accessories, fashion, paper goods, and cultural ephemera which will make you feel like you just took a tip to land of the rising sun (of is that China).

These pop-shops are springing like daisy’s lately, which will probably be due to companies like (multiple choice).  They are running the HK spot but plan to launch different projects which will take on different forms. The guerilla-retailer will be one not to miss so shop early and enjoy.

Agyness Deyn, Derek Lam Play Host to Warhol

Agyness Deyn, Derek Lam and a slew of other celebrities play host to a private preview of Andy Warhol’s Double Marlon at The Soho Grand tonight. This event will be filled with a who’s who of fashionable types and celebs so it’s only appropriate that we crash it. Nothing says true Warhol more than rebellion (or is that commercialism).  In a day when so much of Warhol’s work has been bastardized it’s refershing that there is still appreciation for his art, unaltered and not attatched to a national campaign for the GAP.  You probably won’t get in, but if you’re the hotness you never know.

Your Eating Disorder Can Get You On TV

Wanna be on TV? Your eating disorder may get you some air time.

From Michelle Niger of FOX:
Hello, I’m a producer with “The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet.” We’re a nationally syndicated live morning television show based out of NYC. On Thursday, April 24th, we’re doing a segment about a study from the International Journal of Eating Disorders that says that eating disorders are contagious. The study says, “A study of U.S. high school students provides additional evidence that eating disorders may be contagious….researchers found that binging, fasting, diet pill use and other eating disorder symptoms clustered within counties, particularly among female students…”

I’m looking for a personal story from someone who has or has had an eating disorder, specifically someone that was shared with or learned their eating disorder from other women in high school or college. We will cover all travel accommodations to NYC. Please call me asap as this is time sensitive 212.301.5371
