If there’s one cause that’s near and dear to my heart, it’s The Funk. So understandably I was filled with immense sorrow when I heard that Dr. Funkenstein himself, George Clinton, needed $50,000 to save his studio. And then I was filled with even more immense sorrow when I realized that George Clinton doesn’t have $50,000.

This delicious little story is like something out of Gatsby — if The Great Gatsby was kind of trashy and a bit of a douchbag. We’ve got a bevy of supermodels, a Greek billionaire heir, a Roitfeld, an entitled prince of a sovereign city-state, $500 bottles of vodka, and a chivalrous “man of the people” trapped in the middle of it all.

It seems that these days Marilyn Monroe is more popular than ever. Books, movies, gorgeous editorials — everywhere one looks, there’s Marilyn…rolling over in her grave. Eh, who am I kidding, she probably loves the attention. And she would definitely love this latest development: MAC is launching a line of cosmetics dedicated to the icon.

There have been so many ways to commemorate the late Dame Elizabeth Taylor, and a made for television movie is next in line. Notorious train wreck Lindsay Lohan will be portraying the icon in a new Lifetime movie titled Liz and Dick, a look back at the long lasting love affair between Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. Granted we love Eliabeth Taylor and think that Lindsay Lohan is a bit of a disaster, there are similarities in Taylor’s history that may just make the role a decent fit for her. Lilo will be hosting Saturday Night Live next weekend (March 3) where we’ll be sure to hear a bit about her upcoming role.

To commemorate its 175th anniversary, Tiffany & Co. decided to strike gold…along with some silver and bronze for good measure. Introducing Rubedo, a combination of the three precious metals, debuting in the jeweler’s new “Tiffany 1837” collection. The pink alloy is Tiffany’s first foray into full metal alchemy.

Monday, outside a factory owned by Puma manufacturer, Kaoway Sports, protests turned violent when an unidentified man fired shots into a group of strikers, critically injuring at least one factory worker. Located in the Cambodian province of Svay Rieng, the Kaoway factory is part of the district’s Manhattan Special Economic Zone where some 3,000 workers have been on strike for higher wages and better working conditions for the past week.
