Their shared passion for luxury materials and strong, structured silhouettes led to the launch of their Australian footwear label tom gunn. Described as “sophisticated with an edge,” tom gunn shoes are constructed with materials from the top Italian tanneries and suppliers and have been used by the likes of Prada, Marni, CoSTUME NATIONAL and Gucci. I got a chance to to ask Thompson and Gunn about how they got started, where they find inspiration and how their label has become a shoe industry stand-out.

Katherine Heath was like many girls her age as a child. She loved to string beads and make friendship bracelets for family and friends. But her real design career started after her mother gave her bags full of vintage buttons that once belonged to her great-grandmother. From there, Kates Design was born. One-of-a-kind bracelets and earrings created from these vintage fastenings remind of a time when the detail of beautiful buttons was an everyday part of getting dressed. I sat down with Katherine to chat about her business, design process and what’s to come in her world of charming button accessories.

Though Heatherette is all but ancient history, Richie Rich is still a glam club kid at heart. Amidst a sea of models – bones and high ponytails from wall to ceiling – I met up with the designer and his design director Angelo Lambrou during a casting call for Richie’s runway show. This will be his second collection for his eponymous label and will be held at the Hammerstein Ballroom on February 10th at 9 pm. Proceeds will go to benefit two causes very close to Richie’s sequined heart: DoSomething.org and Cookies for Kids’ Cancer. We discussed Richie’s fabulous inspirations, his fabulous friends and the first time he met Madonna. Which was, you guessed it, fabulous.
