The fact that I somehow forgot to post Jil Sander’s Spring 2010 collection earlier is inexcusable, but look on the bright side, we’re that much closer to the gauze and linen goodness in store this spring! Overall, the line is relatively natural, encompassing earthy tones of beige and other basics. Sander played with cut outs and burn outs, mixing a fair amount of skin within a primarily tailored and androgynous collection. Loving the tattered, naturally worn out look of the gauze layers as well as the belting of oversized blazers!

In June, Burberry will launch a collection of 100 color products for eyes, lips, and skin with Inter Parfums SA, the holder of Burberry’s beauty license. The line will be carried in only 30 stores globally, including Nordstrom.

La Perla has launched a new website, aiming to bridge the gap between the e-commerce experience and shopping in their retail stores. The CEO, James Gardner stated, “One of the fairly common challenges facing brands with the previous generation of e-commerce sites is that the brand and shopping experiences are two separate experiences.”

We have all heard about the day rock and roll died, but everyone mark your calendar because Herbert Custodio dug it up and pissed on it’s ashes.This may be the worst collection I have ever seen. Not only does it make one of the greatest rock bands of all time look cheesy and lame, but to say it is “inspired” by the band KISS is a complete understatement. This is the direct result of someone trying to be two things they aren’t, a rocker AND a designer.

Designers such as Oscar de la Renta, Matthew Williamson, Alberta Ferretti, Yohji Yamamoto and Alexander McQueen grace the holiday windows of Bergdorf Goodman.

Death. Demons. Shrimp? The Savannah, Georgia born Shrimp Sauce brings a little mischief to the their debut collection of tees. You can grab the collection which features knives, masked men, wolves and of course, shrimp at their newly opened online store.

This November, Mulberry will introduce a collection of accessories designed for Apple products. These accessories for men and women have been enhanced with features like padding, pockets and headphone access. The collection includes bags in Mulberry’s natural leathers as well as MacBook sleeves and small bags in various colors and prints.

Sony Ericsson has teamed up with Dolce and Gabbana to release a sexy little phone based on the Jalou design. The ‘IT’ gadget has a rose-coloured body and 24-carat gold plating, and features a 3.2 megapixel camera, mirror key and music player.

A short film has also been created specially for the phone and directed by film director Cyril Guyot.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen will be launching a new Junior’s brand exclusively at JCPenney called Olsenboye. To gear up for the launch of the new line, New Yorkers will have the chance to get an early peek at the new collection.

Starting today (10/26), JCPenney will be parking a “treat truck” for three days in three locations in NYC, for a sneak peek at some Olsenboye product, the Olsen’s will be making a surprise appearance at one of the three locations.

Rachel Freire is a London based designer whose debut fashion collection was presented at London Fashion Week with On|Off in February 2009 at the Science Museum in London.  Already her work has been seen in publications such as Dazed and Confused, AnOther, Issue One, Timeout London, Juxtapoz, Illustrated Ape, Art Business Today and Metro London.

Educated at Central Saint Martins, her influences stem from her love of historical costume combined with futuristic imagery. Behind the dramatic silhouettes and decadent embellishments, the pieces are designed to be wearable, durable and flattering.

I’m a huge fan of Karl’s work for Chanel, but when it comes to his namesake brand I feel we’re getting a bit shafted.

Especially considering the chunky piano-guitar player in the beginning. Seriously, no matter how hipster you’re trying to be, that will never, ever be cool. Also, did you see how Karl Lagerfeld walks out at the end? Does he have a joint problem or does he just enjoy make-believing he’s driving a car at all times?

Even though my style is slowly digressing from that grungy rocker look, I still find myself drooling over the items from Bess. Although the lookbook for Fall 2009 is nothing terribly new, (leather, studs, zippers and skin) these high quality items never fail to impress me. Check out what Bess has in store for this season:

Gucci has announced the launch of the Gucci App for iPhone and iPod touch, which is now available from the App Store.

The app synthesizes the worlds of fashion, technology and music offering Gucci enthusiasts access to exclusive Gucci products, unique playlists, videos, fashion shows, news, events, latest collections, store listings and the ability to mix their own music.

The rich content on the app was developed specifically with the profile of the Gucci loyalist in mind and delivers a new way to experience the varied world of the Gucci lifestyle. The launch of the Gucci App has been timed to coincide with the itinerant GUCCI ICON-TEMPORARY project, a travelling sneaker store that opens on October 24th at 43 Crosby Street in New York, before moving to Miami on December 1st, and then to London and Tokyo in Spring 2010.

Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini collaborated with award-winning musical artist and producer Mark Ronson on key features of the app including:
* The Gucci Ronson Sneaker: Giannini and Ronson have designed a collection of limited edition sneakers in conjunction with the GUCCI ICON-TEMPORARY travelling sneaker store project. For each city opening in the US, one special Gucci Ronson model has been reserved exclusively for the Gucci App. Only iPhone and iPod touch users can view these coveted models, and only they have the ability to purchase it.
* Gucci Beats: One of the most progressive features of the Gucci App allows users to mix their own music tracks on a virtual turntable. Ronson has provided loops that can be individually manipulated by layering on various beats, sound types, drums, bass and vocals. Users are given DJ-like creative and technical capabilities on their iPhone or iPod touch and can save and share their original tracks with friends via email or Facebook.
* Frida and Mark’s Playlists: Both Giannini and Ronson have created their own personal playlists for the Gucci App, which can be downloaded directly from the iTunes Store. A well-documented music lover, Giannini has included a mix of tracks currently inspiring her fashion collections.
“Apps are the new virtual accessory, so I approached the design of Gucci’s first app in the same way I do with a bag or shoe from my collections,” said Frida Giannini, Gucci’s Creative Director. “I looked to provide the essence of the Gucci lifestyle experience in a way that takes full advantage of the technological capabilities of the revolutionary iPhone and iPod touch. Good knitwear is a must-have for the winter, and when you come across the beauteous, chunky knits from Istanbul based, Eternal Child, you can’t help but pray the wind gets a little colder. Leathers, a surefire crowd favorite, made their appearance in the collection as some body conscious motorcycle jackets while furs made a brief, cameo appearance in the form of a vest. But trendy items aside, it’s really the bold knits that make this collection a win in my book!

Tome Ford recently told WWD that he will, in fact, be launching a womenswear line “very soon.” Ford’s businesspartner, Domenico De Sole, is on the hunt for some financing, and once the monetary aspect is all squared away, we can expect a womenswear collection to hit the runways about 18 months after! I sense some of the best androgyny is lurking in the near future!

A new favorite fashion movie might be entering the ring. Ridley Scott is apparently courting Angelina to star in a new movie about murder and decadence in the pre-Tom Ford Gucci empire. Apparently, Maurizio, the grandson of founder Guccio Gucci was gunned down in Milan in 1995. The mystery behind the mayhem will most likely be the focus of the fim.

Wonder if they’ll get Tommy boy in for a cameo? Or will another star be tapped to play fashions number one sex pot?

Brooklyn natives, the twentyten, have rolled out a second round of images for their amazing new collection! The pieces are by no means for the people who wish to go unnoticed, but what’s the fun in that? This is what I have come to view as fashion (for all you people out there who say I don’t know what I’m talking about), the type of clothes that evokes a certain feeling of art within it, unlike a lot of the over praised designs found at Saks or Barneys. Love the whole collection, and I think I could live in the huge draping tank featured with the gray overcoat.

PS, do any of you see a familiar face from the scene in any of these photos? The always elegant Elizabeth Ammerman of Seven is one of the models for this shoot! I know 90% of you still have no clue what I’m talking about so I’ll make it even easier for all of you. The girl you see almost everyday in Soho with the Gareth Pugh shoes. There done! If you don’t know now just Google her.

Miu Miu’s spring 2010 show in Paris brought about many different patterns. From shoes to jackets, a majority of the items were covered in playful images—cats, birds, and daises to name a few. The motif’s transcended beyond the garments as details on numerous bags that also were shown as part of the collection.

The images all made a bold statement down the runway, but my favorite had to be the cat design.

To celabrate the 60th anniversary of the Desert Boots, Clarks Original takes us down the memory lane with their six new unique designs.Each of the six styles, three for men and three for women, is inspired by one of the decades, between 1950 -2000, that Desert Boot has been an essential item in your shoe collection.

I had never heard that Detroit has a Fashion Week, but apparently they do. I’m sorry that I didn’t cover this, maybe next year, since you know, as the website says it’s Michigan’s “only fashion industry event.” That makes it sound so much more sad than exciting.
