Parson’s graduate Pamela Johnston pays homage to her California adolescence with her spring 2008 collection of notable jewelry. Each piece evokes the landscape of the desert and the beach with the use of random details, natural fibers, and textures. The necklaces are chunky and ethnic which is exemplified by vibrant colors, lacquered twigs and birch wood chips. I’m really feeling the use of random objects when it comes to costume jewelry, and Plume delivers just that with the petite accordion chain neckpiece. It’s a quirky, but natural and humble display of creative craftsmanship.
