It’s become pretty evident (unless you live under the proverbial rock) that vintage is the new couture, with Whitehorse being a prime example of this phenomenon. This Los Angeles-based men and women’s clothing line is an odd, yet appealing combination of early ‘70’s and late 80’s influences, making for an earthy and retro aesthetic. The spring 2008 collection perpetuates this dichotomy using Native American colors and motifs, groovy graphics and details (note the infamous “shit happens” smiley face) neon hues, and text circa “Valley Girl”. Most pieces are constructed from thin, distressed cotton that is loose-fitting and unstructured giving off that purposely thrown together, haphazard feel. If you don’t want to look too literal, leave the moccasins and wayfarers at home lest you look like a clotheshorse’s ass.
