DESIGNER TO KNOW: Lotta Volkova

With the bondage look as one of my newer obsessions, it seems to be a blessing that I stumbled upon the dark, prisoner-like designs of Lotta Volkova. Volkova’s concentration in menswear is apparent in her 2009 womenswear collection as many of the pieces stray away from the body-conscious silhouettes and embrace a boxy, masculine freedom. Embellished with grommets, metal rings, leather straps, ruffles and buckles, Volkova’s designs exude a tough-girl, edgy vibe, not for the faint of heart. Now, wish me luck getting my hand on that black, leather-strapped dress!
