DIY: The Shirt SkirtLove them or hate them, the shirt skirt is bound to be everywhere this spring. They’re simple, versatile, and undoubtedly comfortable, but for some odd reason, they come at a high price. With the recession full speed ahead, who in their right mind would drop almost $250 for a skirt you can make with an old, oversized shirt, a bit of thread and 10 minutes to spare? I am currently working on a shirt skirt of my own, and I find that it works best if you use a solid shirt (that way, you avoid crooked stripes!) and elastic thread. Cut the shirt according to the desired length (stitch elastic at the top), sew the arms together to serve as a belt/sash and throw on some belt loops! Really, it’s that easy!
