17 year old, Corey Kennedy, clubster, fashion icon, MySpace star and Nylon covergirl is now also the face of Urban Decay, the makeup brand for girls who don’t want to go unnoticed.
So whats the deal with this girl anyway?
As Mr. Saynt asks me, “Would you watch the Corey Kennedy show?”. No, I don’t think I would. Not that the ads don’t look hot in all their airbrushed glory, but I have to wonder if it’s the girl herself, or just the makeup?
Would you want Corey on TV?

Roberto Rimondi and Tommaso Aquilano are 6267 (named after Rimondi’s clothing ID number at summer camp), Italian designer duo and force to be reckoned with. Though relatively new to the scene, you would never know it from their work.
The latest collection was their spring 2008 Ready-To-Wear, a fusion of fifties couture and Japanese Samurai. Models stomped down the runway in luxurious silks and embroidered pieces in palettes of navy, cream, lavender and gold. Beautiful sheath dresses, high-waisted micro minis, full coats and flowing wide leg trousers kept the silhouette classic and sophisticated, while the tent dresses and floral patterns added drama and flair.

We are urberly buberly happy for the success of (capsule), the men’s show that brought the likes of Yoko, Wrath Arcane, and Acne Jeans.
Word on the street is that the (capsule) show was the highlight of men’s fashion week in NY and the only show that mattered for people looking for menswear that was fresh and inspiring.
There were plenty of slim trousers, cardigans and woven shirts to be found, but all had a twist to them, whether it be contrast fabric lining or unusual button treatments. Directional footwear, evolved streetwear, unique eyewear and accessories and handcrafted denim rounded out the assortment.
There’s a new movement in men’s fashion, and (capsule) is at its forefront.

Fresh from the pages of WWD.
“Kirsten Dunst is Miu Miu’s spring poster girl, but she will be Lutz & Patmos’ guest designer for fall. The actress, who is said to be joining Ryan Gosling in the murder mystery “All Good Things,” has whipped up a long crewneck sweater that can also be worn as a dress. This is a new medium for the actress, who said via e-mail, “When I was younger, I used deflated balloons on my Barbies to make dresses — that was as far as I came to having design aspirations.”
Tina Lutz and Marcia Patmos are also stepping into new territory with a home collection for West Elm that will launch at their Feb. 3 New Museum presentation.”
Do we really need another celebo collection? And does anyone think miss Dunst is worthy of the title fashion designer?

We Are The Market had the chance to check out Yoko Devereaux’s fashion show. The lucky PR firm had the chance to check out his fall/winter 08 debut on Monday. “It was the first show for Yoko Devereaux in several seasons and the venue was packed with the usual gang of scenesters, editors, buyers and celebrity friends like Alan Cumming, Sophia Lamar and Ana Matronic.
The collection, designed under the guidance of creative director Andy Salzer, featured graphics by artist Charles Lutz, as well as cardigans, skinny ties, super skinny pants and chic hoodies in a palette of basic black, white, slate blue and gray for the guy who wants to toe the line between cutting edge and just plain cool.
We’ve got pics after the jump.”

Laguna Beach and The Hills star, Lauren “LC” Conrad, has made the jump from TV to the runway, where she supposedly will be showing her line Lauren Conrad Collection during Fashion Week. The show would most definitely draw a celebrity crowd including BFF’s to the designer herself, Audrina Partridge and Brody Jenner as well as ex-boss Lisa Love, editor-in-chief of Teen Vogue.
Lauren’s collection is made up of the clothes she and her gang parade around in, swishy, flowing, clean lines and very southern California.

Born in London of an Irish mother and an Asian father, Jean-Pierre Braganza attended the prestigious St. Martin’s School. Upon graduating, he got the chance to work alongside Roland Mouret, from whom he learned the art of ultra feminine cuts.
On the calendar of London Fashion Week since 2004, he presents men’s and women’s collections that always capture the imagination of international buyers and media. Chosen by Mr. Lagerfeld for The Protégé Project, he explores the potential of Australian Merino Wool through his distinctly structured style.

Jean-Pierre Braganza’s collection for “The Protégé Projectâ€. A tribute to the female form celebrated through a keen use of sartorial geometry. Braganza takes a complex route in fashioning his designs, rethinking the body through unprecedented proportions, luscious layers, an interplay of Merino wool fabrics and wool crêpe inserts giving extra depth to the clothes. On hour - glass dresses and suits, grey and black hues intersect, meet warm notes of bordeaux. The collection, which also includes some items for men, is an exquisitely elegant synthesis of the ideal wardrobe.
A few basic pieces contemporary of cut, classic of inspiration, where mixes follow precise rules and all variations
capture the idea of a modern uniform.

A graduate of St. Martin’s School, Ioannis Cholidis is a Greek menswear designer who inflects fine tailoring with active and sportswear accents. In 2006, he designed a line of Puma sneakers presented during London Fashion Week. In the same year he worked with Stella McCartney creating clothes for the English band Coldplay.

Thanks to his eclectic approach to fashion and his inventive take on colour for men, he’s the one Sir Paul Smith - the best loved of English designers - chose in 2007 to find a new way for men to enjoy Merino wool. Frame by frame, Ioannis Cholidis’s collection depicts the everyday life of a stylish young man who shifts easily between business and casual looks.
Voluminous pants and shorts contrast nicely with slimfit shirts, pullovers, twinsets. Pants make quite a fashion statement, as in the wool denims for leisure occasions, or the sleeker models with exclusive detailing like copper hardware and the lastest in padding and fringe. The colour spectrum ranges from the softest pastels to deep anthracite grey and navy blue hues. Strongpoint of the Cholidis collection is a flair for reinventing the all-time classics of men’s casuals (usually denims or leathers) in Australian Merino Wool. The result: soft five-pocket jeans, peacoat, bomber and biker jacket all in a wool fabric offering innovative ease and surprising tech performance.

A young Julian Louie left California to study architecture at Cooper Union University in New York. Two years later he discovered a passion for fashion, which he believed had the same imaginative force as architecture in defining the contexts of modern living. In 2005, with an internship at Imitation of Christ, Julian got to enter the field firsthand. Subsequently, the young architect - now in love with fashion - joined the Calvin Klein style office headed by Francisco Costa. This makes the latter’s choice of Julian as his protégé for the ambitious Australian Merino Wool initiative all the more significant.

Characterized by contrasts, the collection Julian Louie designed for The Protégé Project merges opulence and austerity, full forms and clean lines, structured silhouettes and lavish details. The mood is young, audacious and sophisticated. Proportions capture a new concept in volume: darts, puffs, pleats, gatherings redesign the figure. Perfectly offset by rich embroideries inspired by Robert Motherwell and Gustav Klimt paintings. The palette presents variations on metallic grey, from pewter to graphite, lead to silver. Adding warmth to these tones is an intense shade of gold, as well as inserts and applications in primary colours (red, yellow, blue) interspersed with white. Exalting Merino wool’s versatility, Julian Louie constructs precious balloon dresses, preppie-style pants cut off at ankles, coats and jackets in ultra simple lines. For a New York style interpretation, at once bold and elegant, of the Australian fiber.

A 2004 graduate of Stockholm’s Beckmans School of Design, Sandra Backlund is a tricot artist who assembles her knits by hand in three-dimensional collages, sculpture mode. Her style of working and the magic of her creations - authentic works of art - have both earned her major awards and attracted the attention of the international press.

First and foremost Franca Sozzani, editor in chief of the Italian Vogue, who chose her for “The Protégé Projectâ€: ideal showcase for signaling, through Sandra’s talent, the newest direction in knitwear.
The human form as the starting point to reinvent, underline, camouflage. Through various handcrafted techniques, Sandra Backlund takes knits to unknown heights, enveloping the body in supersoft Merino wools. For Fall/Winter 2009, she envisions a surreal, magical, magnificent total look in tricot. Finally freeing knits of a classic mannish connotation, the Swedish designer revisits the genre with a spiritual, intimist collection making use of the most precious Australian Merino wool yarns. Key colours in her palette: a warm powder pink and an intense dark red.

A Norwegian who moved to England to attend London’s Royal College of Art, Kristian Aadnevik began working for companies of the caliber of Harrods International in London and Charles Jourdan in Japan after completing his studies.
In 2004 he made his own signature debut, always presenting his collection during London Fashion Week. Acclaimed in the British press as “one of the most interesting young talents on the London sceneâ€, he counts the Princess of Norway Mette - Marit among his admirers on the home front. Donatella Versace, who chose Kristian for his rock attitude, is enthusiastic about the collection her protégé designed for Australian Merino Wool.

A virago with a metal soul, gifted with a supremely sensual grace is what Kristian Aadnevik has in mind, imprinting his Fall/Winter 2009 collection with a narrative stream as he talks about the adventures of his muse.
Her journey begins in northern Europe, ever rich in Gothic mystery, and after passing through a languid Belle Epoque Paris ends in today’s avant-garde East London clubs. The collection features mostly ultra feminine dresses where easy wrap fit and sense of movement come from volumes and drapings defined by an expert choice of gorgeous Australian Merino wool fabrics. Gold and silver glints, iridescent feathers and ostrich applications give the creations a bright touch.

Culminating in a fashion show event in Florence the vision of five young designers comes to life. They are the five new names chosen for “The Protégé Projectâ€: a special initiative that the Australian Wool Innovation, the largest association of Australian Merino woolgrowers, devotes to emerging talents in the fashion world.
Against the evocative backdrop of Palazzo Corsini, the young designers - Kristian Aadnevik, Sandra Backlund, Jean-Pierre Braganza, Ioannis Cholidis, Julian Louie - will present their creations inspired by a fascinating challenge. To reveal the potential of Australian Merino Wool in the realm of men’s and women’s fashion. Launched in June of 2007, The Protégé Project applies the Renaissance model of patronage to the fashion system of today. Thus five internationally prominent figures - Karl Lagerfeld, Donatella Versace, Paul Smith, Francisco Costa for Calvin Klein, Franca Sozzani of the Italian Vogue - were invited to serve as mentors and select respective protégés.
This exceptional role translated for the five young designers into a precious opportunity, the chance for each to express his or her own talent through prestigious Australian Merino wool fabrics and yarns, gaining international visibility in the process.
Australian Wool Innovation involved in the project some of the world’s most illustrious textile manufacturers, namely: Cerruti, Ermenegildo Zegna, Loro Piana, Carlo Barbera, Botto Poala, Reda, Vitale Barberis Canonico, Chiavazza, Zegna Baruffa, Tollegno, Lora e Festa. They agreed to supply fabrics and yarns in the finest Australian Merino Wool for the protégés’ collections.
In an exciting couture twist, Australian Merino Wool conquers the scene and celebrates an important anniversary: the bicentennial of the shipping of the first bale of Merino wool to Europe. Two hundred years of quality, luxury and innovation.

There are many pre-parties for Fashion Week, and last night we had the honor of attending one of them. Personally invited by the honoree, Matt Levine of Steelo, the party was buzzing with industry folk, local celebs, models, and a slew of very well dressed fashionites and trendsetters. The brand encompasses en entire lifestyle which was evident throughout the crowded lounge, most of whom were wearing pieces from Steelo’s (which means ’style’) latest collection. Matt, wearing, of course, one his own creations greeted all guests and happily posed for press photos.

He started the collection back in 2004 with the idea of fusing together nightlife, entertainment, and fashion. ”My first collection was comprised of just t-shirts and customized blazers. I wanted to start off slow where the mistake and setbacks would be minimal. The first piece I created was a shirt entitled ‘I Love Paparazzi’ which was featured on the NBC Today Show—worn by Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan. It was actually a men’s sweater, but women loved the oversized look of it. I was sold out of it immediately.â€
With this kind of celebrity endorsing your threads, Steelo was sure to be a huge hit throughout the industry.
“In creating Steelo I wanted to create a sophisticated collection with style, fresh with elegance, the Lower East Side fused with Wall Street, the confidence of New York, the influence of Los Angeles, and the creativity of Japan.â€
A true visionary, Matt believes that “if you sell to the right store, the right people will buy it.” Whatever his strategy, the boy is doing something right and we definitely respect his passion for the industry. His collection is available locally and online at Caravan.

Byblos, an Italian fashion line around since 1973, has never looked better. The super edgy, almost space age line, is surprisingly wearable and totally awesome. The Spring/Summer ‘08 Womens Collection is a mix of bubble sleeved dresses, sky-high hemline mini skirts, crop jackets and fitted pants. The sophisticated, muted colors and slit detailing, not to mention wrap around platforms, make for a fresh and sexy new approach. Everything is made to enhance the shape and curves of the body and bare just enough skin to deal with what is supposed to be the hottest summer in decades.

However my personal favorite details from the collection include the rope belts, knotted into bows, which adorned the shorts, pants and skirts.

Looking for something a little more fun? Blu Byblos, is a much younger, sportier collection with bright colors, stripes and denim pieces, still maintains the basic identity of Byblos. Both Byblos and Blu Byblos have equally hot men’s collections, as well as shoe and accessory lines.

Couldn’t have happened to a better guy, Malan is wonderful.
We are proud as peaches to announce that following tonight’s episode of “Project Runway,” Bravotv.com will premiere it’s first-ever “we-totally-made-this-on-our-own” web show, starring the one and only Malan Breton.
After his being “auf’d” from “Project Runway” in Season three, we were flooded with the notorious “Bring Malan Back!” campaign. We couldn’t get him back on Runway for season three, but we could follow him around with a video camera for a year and a half.
And so, tonight, at 11pm ET, we bring to you, “The Malan Show,” following Malan as he continues to find his way through New York City. Watch as he opens his first shop, gives advice to unsuspecting passers-by, makes a dress for one of our writer friends, and finally, achieves his life-long dream of showing in the tents at this season’s Mercedes fashion week.
Check back tonight! In the meantime, Visit Malan’s blog here!

So Fashionista.com just ran this article about Fashion Week and Project Runway designers who will be showing during fashion week. I know our boy Malan Breton will be showing but he’s not mentioned or is he? Don’t know if there is beef between the two but will be sure to investigate. This is truly the strangeness. Will investigate it but why the hateration towards Malan?
“Christian, Jillian, and He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named aren’t the only Project Runway designers showing during the week:
Season One alumna Alexandra Vidal has shipped herself from Miami for the occasion, and she’ll show her Fall ‘08 collection at the Bryant Park Hotel on Tuesday, February 5.
Ms. Vidal stacks her appointments against the Marc by Marc Jacobs show, Tory Burch, Matthew Williamson (who’s back from London), and Narciso Rodriguez, and according to her website, she goes like this:
“Discriminating women with impeccable taste, her clients include many whose names regularly appear in the society pages and in fashion magazines. They have sought her out for her individualized creations whose colors, fabrics and details make them stand out.”

So this just in through the grapevine; it is rumored that Alexander Wang, one of our fave designers, is UNIQLO’s next pick for a capsule collection. Known for his clean lines and refined simplicity, Wang would be perfect for the project.
Wang will be following last years sold out collections from Phillip Lim and Alexander Plokhov.
This is all just talks, so if it doesn’t happen don’t blame us, blame Fashionista for starting the rumor. (JK)!
Stay tuned for more on this rumor…

Hey there readers, I’m Chloe, your way too excited, new Fashion Indie blogger. When I came down last week to interview, my first thought upon meeting Daniel and Rebecca was that no body mentioned there was a height requirement for this job. Just kidding, but I did feel embarrassingly short next to the fore mentioned lovelies, as I was quick to tell them. Anyway, we went to some NYU hang out, coffee place a few blocks away, where my black tea looked so unglamorous next to the giant latte filled bowls. We talked to the sounds of Nirvana Unplugged, well mostly Rebecca talked and I smiled alot. Suffice to say, things went well and now here I am sitting at a desk, writing my first post. I was instructed to write a little something about my favorite designer, who at the moment happens to be oh so acclaimed designer to Hollywood’s starlets, Zac Posen. So with no further introduction, here goes:
If you don’t love Zac Posen, think again. Looking at his 2008 Resort Collection, I have the overwhelming urge to clear out my own sadly void closet and make room for all the adorable ensembles. This is the kind of collection you kill people for (although that is not the approach I recommend). The first look to draw an “omigod!†from my lips, is a jaw-dropping, blood red dress with satin detailing and frilled shoulders. I would wear this dress everyday for the rest of my life. Then I see the white mini and floor length emerald ball gown. Never mind, I’m wearing these too. To mix it up a little, the ever fabulous Zac has thrown in shorts, some seriously sexy straight leg trousers and a traffic stopping black, one-piece bathing suit complete with patterned crop jacket and matching hat. Oh Zac, you are delicious.

For always and forever,
Your Fashion Indie baby of the bunch, Chloe

What Market Said: There were washing machines on the runway of the Kris Van Assche show and no one could figure out why– until the finale- the models began to strip and throw their clothes in the wash. The collection was casual, and cool– high fashion staple pieces for the coolest guy you know– skinny jeans, skinny lapels, skinny ties, silver accents, an awesome scarf, the perfect trench… More pics after the jump…
What Saynt Says: A bunch of very well done staple pieces for the man with style, the collection definitely offered a diving point for those who feel fashionably trapped in the humdrum of Banana Republic. A designer that is definitely worth checking out.

We fell hard for these non-Ed Hardy tees we spotted on the T-Critic. Here’s his review of the line:
“I just got an email from the guys at To Die For Clothing and I’ve got to say I kind of like there stuff. There designs are inspired by graffiti, tattoos, and other art, and the results are pretty cool. I generally don’t like design companies where they use there names in a lot of the designs, but somehow it works for To Die For, because it seems to be more focused on the wearer as opposed to the design company. Anyway, if your tired of seeing Ed Hardy shirts everywhere you look check these guys out.”
