The Misshapes have often been deemed the party crew with style. One of the few events in New York that kiddies actually try to look good for, The Misshapes at Don Hill’s has become a cultural phenomenon that has as many detractors as passionate followers.

Their parties have built the careers of amateur pornographers (Merlin Broques of Last Nights Party), have made the household names of UK Rockers (The Horrors and Bloc Party have both rocked Misshapes), and have been the indie lifeline for bubble gum pop stars (Ashley Simpson and Hillary Duff are Misshapes darlings). But all-in-all the one thing that has made the Misshapes so entertaining is the style that has come together at this seedy hotbed in the West Village.

So here are five tips for looking like a Misshape for all you pasty faced posers out there.

From gold platted tampons to jewel encrusted iPod minis (you’re so retro right now), just about anything that’s shiny can be considered an A+ at these parties.

Step 4. Reference Things You Don’t Really Know About or Things That No One Really Knows About - It’s not about what you like when you go to Misshapes, it’s what you want people to think you like.
