Nicky Hilton’s Nicholai Draws More Dust than Buyers at Coterie

         September 22nd, 2007

“OMG! So this is what Paris feels like!”
Nicky Hilton’s debut collection, Nicholai, was almost universally panned by critics at Fashion Week but it’s the invisible hand of the marketplace that has truly given it a thumbs down. Thursday was the last day of the Coterie Show, one of the largest fashion trade shows in the U.S., drawing more than 14,000 buyers to Jacob Javitz Center in NYC. The problem was, none of them seemed to stop by Nicky’s booth to check out her new line.

Heiress by day, streetwalker by night.

When we attended, we practically saw tumbleweeds blow by as her sales assistants tried to look busy hanging and rehanging her celebutant fare of extremely short, candy-colored cocktail dresses and gem-encrusted shorts. It was tough watching as they flashed smiles of desperation to anyone who lingered in the area. We can’t say they didn’t try their darndest. Apparently no one mentioned to Nicky that hemlines are trending longer for Spring/Summer 08. Also, no one mentioned to her that money can’t buy buyers.

She needs to give up her fashion designing and be a train wreck ore something else she’s good at. She doesn’t get it.
