Sinners & Saynt: Winnies Out, Turners In

         December 31st, 2007

It has been an exciting year at Fashion Indie. We started this blog in December of 2006 and a year later have become one of the most visited sites for independent fashion on the web with over 100,000 monthly visitors (you guys rock!!!). Our blog network extends to over a dozen independent websites including T-Critic, San Francisco Indie Fashion, and We Are The Market. We went to print with Fashion Indie Magazine and in March will begin publishing Kitten Magazine, an LA indie magazine which will be exclusively distributed throughout top boutiques. Our fashion week party attracted over 2500 people. This year also marked the quiet (hush, hush) launch of Trendible.com, our sister site which connects you to your favorite fashion designers and like minded fashionistas.

All in all it has been an accomplished year at Fashion Indie, and 2008 promises to be just as exciting. In January we will be helping maurices search for the next great handbag designer, a search which will take place in over 600 stores across America. In February we will be supporting over 30 independent designers throughout fashion week, covering and promoting their events. In March, Fashion Indie will present Kitten Magazine and over 50 boutiques will carry out dedicated indie magazine. In May, Fashion Indie will once again team up with Action Against Hunger to encourage positive change for those who are hungry. In June, Fashion Indie and All for Africa will work to Knock Out Poverty in devastated regions of Africa. In September, Fashion Indie will present Brooklyn Fashion Week, the first “full-week” event celebrating independent designers in Brooklyn. All in all it’s a busy year for Fashion Indie.

For me it will be especially busy. Daniel Saynt is becoming synonymous with independent fashion. I originally wanted to be the Next Wintour, to show Anna how it should be done. But with time I’ve discovered that even Winnie takes orders from someone higher, so the goal is to be the Next Turner (not Tina, Ted). On on my way with a new position at Trendible (no longer Managing Editor, will most likely be something that rhymes with “Resident” or “Brief Reflective Coufficer”. Okay that made no sense at all) and the fact that I will no longer be the Editor of Fashion Indie (the job is going to Rebecca Alexander, our current fashion editor). Anyways, back to Turner, the dude is a media mogul with a heart of gold. He’s a philanthropist and extremely charitable plus he’s responsible for Captain Planet and the Planeteers (best cartoon ever!!!).

Sorry Winnie, our time was short but next year is the year of the Turnermiester.
Wishing you all a happy and safe 2008!!!
