Remember Jem? She was the “truly outrageous” pink haired diva of the 80’s cult cartoon of the same name. Not only was she an international rock star with her band The Holograms but she was a supermodel with an endless wardrobe that would make Ivana Trump and her 3 story closet look like a charity pile at ‘Goodwill’………GOD the 80’s were crazy.Â

Enter New York Couture with their fun and bold collection of tops, mini-dresses and frilly colorful thangs that make me remember Jem and her pink star hologram earrings. I just know in my heart, deep down where baby Jesus is, that she’s in some rehab somewhere listenin’ to Amy Winehouse, green with envy and pissed beyond comprehension…….y’know….if she was real.  Designer Cassie K. describes her line as “Betsey Johnson merging with Cyndi Lauper”, very ‘life sized doll’ on rainbow flavored acid crystals. There’s somethin’ for every ‘girly’ party girl from high waisted frocks and animal prints, ruffles and lace, to flirty prints and cuh-yute appliques. Best of all every peice is handsewn. Spend those cash funds and treat your wardrobe to some New York Couture.Â
