Designer Discovery: 6267

25 Jan 2008

Roberto Rimondi and Tommaso Aquilano are 6267 (named after Rimondi’s clothing ID number at summer camp), Italian designer duo and force to be reckoned with. Though relatively new to the scene, you would never know it from their work.

The latest collection was their spring 2008 Ready-To-Wear, a fusion of fifties couture and Japanese Samurai. Models stomped down the runway in luxurious silks and embroidered pieces in palettes of navy, cream, lavender and gold. Beautiful sheath dresses, high-waisted micro minis, full coats and flowing wide leg trousers kept the silhouette classic and sophisticated, while the tent dresses and floral patterns added drama and flair.

Capsule a Blowout Success!!!

25 Jan 2008

We are urberly buberly happy for the success of (capsule), the men’s show that brought the likes of Yoko, Wrath Arcane, and Acne Jeans.

Word on the street is that the (capsule) show was the highlight of men’s fashion week in NY and the only show that mattered for people looking for menswear that was fresh and inspiring.

There were plenty of slim trousers, cardigans and woven shirts to be found, but all had a twist to them, whether it be contrast fabric lining or unusual button treatments. Directional footwear, evolved streetwear, unique eyewear and accessories and handcrafted denim rounded out the assortment.

There’s a new movement in men’s fashion, and (capsule) is at its forefront.

Another Celebrity “Designer”, Kiki Gets in on the Action with Lutz & Patmos

25 Jan 2008

Fresh from the pages of WWD.

“Kirsten Dunst is Miu Miu’s spring poster girl, but she will be Lutz & Patmos’ guest designer for fall. The actress, who is said to be joining Ryan Gosling in the murder mystery “All Good Things,” has whipped up a long crewneck sweater that can also be worn as a dress. This is a new medium for the actress, who said via e-mail, “When I was younger, I used deflated balloons on my Barbies to make dresses — that was as far as I came to having design aspirations.”

Tina Lutz and Marcia Patmos are also stepping into new territory with a home collection for West Elm that will launch at their Feb. 3 New Museum presentation.”

Do we really need another celebo collection? And does anyone think miss Dunst is worthy of the title fashion designer?

Yoko Devereaux Fall 2008

25 Jan 2008

We Are The Market had the chance to check out Yoko Devereaux’s fashion show. The lucky PR firm had the chance to check out his fall/winter 08 debut on Monday. “It was the first show for Yoko Devereaux in several seasons and the venue was packed with the usual gang of scenesters, editors, buyers and celebrity friends like Alan Cumming, Sophia Lamar and Ana Matronic.

The collection, designed under the guidance of creative director Andy Salzer, featured graphics by artist Charles Lutz, as well as cardigans, skinny ties, super skinny pants and chic hoodies in a palette of basic black, white, slate blue and gray for the guy who wants to toe the line between cutting edge and just plain cool.

We’ve got pics after the jump.”

Lauren Conrad: From Reality Show to Fashion Show

25 Jan 2008

thehills_conrad_l.jpg

Laguna Beach and The Hills star, Lauren “LC” Conrad, has made the jump from TV to the runway, where she supposedly will be showing her line Lauren Conrad Collection during Fashion Week. The show would most definitely draw a celebrity crowd including BFF’s to the designer herself, Audrina Partridge and Brody Jenner as well as ex-boss Lisa Love, editor-in-chief of Teen Vogue.

Lauren’s collection is made up of the clothes she and her gang parade around in, swishy, flowing, clean lines and very southern California.
