W’s Out. Is Vogue Next?
Call it a sign of the times (or really good news for bloggers) but Walmart has cleared it’s shelves of over 1,000 magazine titles that weren’t selling as well as they had hoped. In the dumps are Conde Nasts W. Magazine and other major titles like Town & Country, The New Yorker, Forbes, and Fortune. Apparently the movement is to better represent the Walmart customer, but we really know what’s going on. It’s what fashion bloggers have been predicting for nearly three years, the slow, yet painful death of the glossy. Walmart represents 20% off all retail magazine sales, which means this is a major blow to an industry that has seen massive layoffs and shut downs.

Does this mean W (which in all honesty is my FAVORITE fashion mag second only to NYLON) will soon have it’s own tombstone along the likes of Elle Girl, Teen People, Jane, and Shop Etc.? Time will tell, but expect some major advertisers out there looking for a few new channels to lay some cash down. You can always send the money here, we’re more than willing to take checks, cash, credit, Discover, personal favors, and of course clothes. Remember advertisers, we’re online and distributed through top boutiques (through our new baby Kitten Magazine). We won’t be affected by this big box bull sh*t!
