Lauren Conrad: From Reality Show to Fashion Show

25 Jan 2008

thehills_conrad_l.jpg

Laguna Beach and The Hills star, Lauren “LC” Conrad, has made the jump from TV to the runway, where she supposedly will be showing her line Lauren Conrad Collection during Fashion Week. The show would most definitely draw a celebrity crowd including BFF’s to the designer herself, Audrina Partridge and Brody Jenner as well as ex-boss Lisa Love, editor-in-chief of Teen Vogue.

Lauren’s collection is made up of the clothes she and her gang parade around in, swishy, flowing, clean lines and very southern California.

Steelo: A Lifestyle

23 Jan 2008

Picture 21.pngPicture 12.pngPicture 32.png

There are many pre-parties for Fashion Week, and last night we had the honor of attending one of them. Personally invited by the honoree, Matt Levine of Steelo, the party was buzzing with industry folk, local celebs, models, and a slew of very well dressed fashionites and trendsetters. The brand encompasses en entire lifestyle which was evident throughout the crowded lounge, most of whom were wearing pieces from Steelo’s (which means ’style’) latest collection. Matt, wearing, of course, one his own creations greeted all guests and happily posed for press photos.

He started the collection back in 2004 with the idea of fusing together nightlife, entertainment, and fashion. ”My first collection was comprised of just t-shirts and customized blazers. I wanted to start off slow where the mistake and setbacks would be minimal. The first piece I created was a shirt entitled ‘I Love Paparazzi’ which was featured on the NBC Today Show—worn by Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan. It was actually a men’s sweater, but women loved the oversized look of it. I was sold out of it immediately.”

With this kind of celebrity endorsing your threads, Steelo was sure to be a huge hit throughout the industry.

“In creating Steelo I wanted to create a sophisticated collection with style, fresh with elegance, the Lower East Side fused with Wall Street, the confidence of New York, the influence of Los Angeles, and the creativity of Japan.”

A true visionary, Matt believes that “if you sell to the right store, the right people will buy it.” Whatever his strategy, the boy is doing something right and we definitely respect his passion for the industry. His collection is available locally and online at Caravan.

Through the Grapevine : Alexander Wang for Uniqlo

23 Jan 2008

So this just in through the grapevine; it is rumored that Alexander Wang, one of our fave designers, is UNIQLO’s next pick for a capsule collection. Known for his clean lines and refined simplicity, Wang would be perfect for the project.

Wang will be following last years sold out collections from Phillip Lim and Alexander Plokhov.

This is all just talks, so if it doesn’t happen don’t blame us, blame Fashionista for starting the rumor. (JK)!

Spotlight Indie: Illustrative Genius Coco Mixes It Up

17 Jan 2008

cocoport.jpg

Amazing fashion artist spotted by the folks at Notcot.com.

The artist is Coco and her work is a beautiful mixed media assortment of works that begin with “experimenting with old-school processes such as painting, drawing and ceramics” and then pulling them together in our good ol’ photoshop for a perfect mixture of physical and digital collaging. Coco studied fine arts in paris, and spent the last few years in london. Her work has been seen (and praised) in Vogue Magazine, Dazed & confused, Nylon Japan, Plastique & Bon magazine. Definitely an artist to watch and privately envy.

The Story Gets Better: Corey Delany Sunglasses

16 Jan 2008

Corey Delaney Worthington
Haven’t seen the video? Watch it here
If you don’t know The Corey Story here’s a recap. Some 16 year old Aussie troublemaker/genius decided to host a crazy house party while his parents were away on vacay. 500 people showed up, nudity and drunkenness ensued (do these two ever go it alone), neighbors complained, and the cops were called in to break shit up. Long story short the kid was fined $20,000 for his little adventures. On the local news, Corey presented himself as some slacker, f-the establishment, anti-hero which any kid would jump at the chance to party with. The videos shooting up the Youtube charts and Corey Delany will most likely be the name you’re gonna want to remember.

Now, his infamous glasses (the ones he refuses to take off) are for sale at CoreyDelaney.com. I would buy them, dude needs the money.

Hey Corey.

If you’re reading this. Let’s do an interview.

You totally rock.

Corey Delaney is some kick booty cool kid from Aussie land that decided to host a massive house party while his parents we’re away. The party was insane and resulted in over $25000 in damages (kid knows how to party). The best part is his attitude. The video is on Fashion Indie TV so be sure to check it out.

Bergdorf says “Pass that Versaces”

15 Jan 2008

Tommy Fazio
If this dude (at left) comes to your show, don’t kick him out.
Loved this story from the New York Post’s Page 6. Beyonce’s bodyguard apparently needed a seat at Vercase’s show in Milan. The idiotic (soon to be fired, I’m sure) PR agent decided to move some “unimportant” guest to make room for the bulky guard. The guest that was kicked out was Bergdorf Goodman’s fashion director Tommy Fazio. Fazio was not pleased. He left the show and canceled his scheduled post-show appointment with the designers reps. Ouch!!!

Let this be a warning to any other designers out there who do a poor job of handling PR, buyers, and editors. If you screw up, you will feel our wrath. And that wrath will have a direct affect on your pocketbook. Hey Tommy, if you’re reading, give us a call. We have a bunch of designers who can fill Vercase’s spot at Goodman’s and we’ll even give you a front row seat.

Random Marc Jacobs Image of the Day

09 Jan 2008

Marc Jacobs

Um, so does anyone remember old Jacobs? You know the one who couldn’t possibly do this due to his “weight issue”. Big ups to Marc for dropping the pounds, but maybe we’re sharing a bit too much on MySpace? Plus, isn’t that site so, um, done. Facebook or Trendible baby, leave the Space for the hanger-ons and under achievers.

After Christmas, Head to the Gym

26 Dec 2007

So the holidays are behind us. Now it is time to head to the gym.

In fashion we don’t tend to worry about beach seasons or looking our very best in the summer. It really comes down to looking good for Fashion Week. So now is the time for all you budding fashionistas to get your butts into gear so that you can look good for fashion week in February.

I wouldn’t just say lose weight, but maybe just tighten. Like go home, look at the scale and subtract 20 pounds and aim for that. (sorry for the Knocked Up reference, the movie has been playing in high rotation lately).

We’ll be posting a bit more regularly this week. I was in a fruit cake induced coma and now I’m back.

P.S. Ill did they really let skelator onto the runway. Bring back the chunky models.

November 15th: The Busiest Fashion Night of The Month?

15 Nov 2007

WTF?!? Why do I have so many invites for tonight!?! Up first was the Paris Hilton, come check out my collection for Dollhouse one, which I very happily skipped. They couldn’t pay me to write a good review for that crap (or maybe they could. hmmm). Then it’s off to Caravan, 2 Great Jones Street, for their New Flagship Fund. Don’t know what it is but there’s an afterparty at Pravda. Vodka cocktails with Rebecca, yay!!! At the same time I’m supposed to stop by John Varvatos as he plays host for the launch of Creme Magazine The Book. Rock n’ Roll. Later tonight I’m off to the Plumm to celebrate their One Year Anniversary. Chris Noth, Jesse Bradford, Samantha Ronson, Damon Dash, Joey Mcintyre, Noel Ashman, Ross Robinson, Patrick McMullan, and Joel Madden are going to be celebrating the night right. Damn I’m tired and I’m off!!! Wish me luck Indies. Also tonight the CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund crowns their winners at a big gala. No invite for that one, so sad, but their’s always next year. Good luck to Philip, Victoria (VPL) and to the Vena Cava girls. Don’t look Winnie in the eyes though, I hear you’ll turn into cheap polyester.

Patricia Field Dresses Forever It Girl Barbie

14 Nov 2007

I’ve loved Barbie my whole entire life and I’m not ashamed to say that I still collect her fashion dolls to this day. So attending Pat Field’s launch party for her line of clothing, jewelry and accessories in collaboration with Barbie was an absolute girly girl dream! There was a pink buffet of decadent deserts and all her mannequins were decked out in the iconic clothing. My personal fave was a black and gold t-shirt that screamed “Barbie, I WANT MY FUCKIN DREAM HOUSE!!!” and I will definitely be dropping some cash on the plastic bracelet with her silhouette splashed around.

bracelet

You’ll be able to purchase these items at Macy’s and a bunch of other stores including Patricia Field’s downtown outpost. But if you can’t make it anywhere, other than online, go to PatriciaField.com. Later today I will be posting a bunch of picks from her party on AngelLustPR.blogspot.com but for now get your little taste right here.

Media Mayhem “My Night with Justin Hyte”

14 Nov 2007

guitar

Last night Justin Hyte and I attended Patricia Field’s launch party for her new Barbie collaboration (Barbie & Patty a natural fit). It gave me a chance to really get to know a legend in the making, even if he laughs at that idea himself. He’s a fresh young photographer whose got an eye and a skill with the camera, but what sets him apart from is his wild and nutty imagination. Justin Hyte is a total juvenile delinquent working behind a lens for the highest celebs to anyone else whose up for a pretty SICK portrait. He’s a modest straight (I KNOW!!!) male living in the big city for only a year and a half. Enough time to swag the coolest jobs from other long time photographers in a heartbeat. Most people expect him to be a flaming gay male or a souped up drag queen, when in fact he’s usually all dressed in black and none of the above. I did a lengthy interview with him on www.AngelLustPR.blogspot.com. Read it then call his booking agent to look like a total cartoon RockStar.

Everybody Zune

14 Nov 2007

The Zune Originals party last night at Skylight Studios was a monumentous affair. Every cool kid under the sun, including Leigh Lezark and Tommy Sunshine, were in attendance to celebrate the new personalized Zune players. DJ sets by Peter (of Peter Bjorn and John) and Wade (Stunners Int’l) kept everyone moving. It could be that the Zune is in the forerunning for Ipod alternative. I’m picking mines up tomorrow. Yes the Ipod Touch would be a more practical choice, but I’d rather not get my ass robbed when traveling to the Bronx. I just hope I don’t need to trade in my Mac desktop and revert back to PC. Might consider the new Dell Laptop, they make one in Fashion Indie green!!!

The Search for the Next Ities

18 Oct 2007

Fashion Indie is on the hunt for the next “It” girl (or boy). Searching through the barrows of MySpace, YouTube, and the New York Party scene we are looking to the life of the party, the fashionable spark that makes designers swoon and the inspired lookers who challenge the norm.

Today we came across Namalee The Rave Girl (people still rave?) from the UK. A MySpace friend of Fashion Indie, Namalee has always been a true party scenester.  Think she has what it takes to be the next “It” girl? Then show some love and let her know it. More Ities coming soon.
