Bob Dylan’s “I’m Not There” Style

20 Nov 2007

bob dylan style

With the new Bob Dylan biopic “I’m Not There” making it into theaters this week it seems that Dylanmania finally has the potential of influencing style. Cate Blanchette’s portrayal as a disillusioned young Dylan has sent a few trendsetting stylistas skipping the “dress for success” model and opting for a firm fitted look from some menswear designers. Aside from heading to Brooks Brothers for some Thom Browne separates, here are some looks that might fit your inner rolling stone. How does it feel?

Mr.Black Shades - $13.00
Neal Sperling White Button Shirt - $129
Guitar Pick Earrings - $39.95
Harmonica - $45.01

Jean-Michel Cazabat Terry Stretch Patent Bootie - $535

Jovovich-Hawk Keith Richards Suit - $775

P.S. If you’re looking for a more modern take on Dylan, check out Love Brigade’s Fall collection Highway Dylan Revisited. Dylan’s mug makes an appearance on a few of the futuristic pieces.

Justin Hyte’s version of Glamour Shots!!!

02 Sep 2007

justin

Professional photography is what divides the nameless from the famous. But getting some snapped by the likes of David La Chappelle or Annie Lebowitz is usually only reserved for models, movie stars, or platinum artists. Famed indie photog, Justin Hyte, has a different idea on that whole thing.
He is now offering to shoot fellow MySpacer’s portraits at a discount rate. He has shot club life pop diva’s such as Amanda Lepore, Myspace superstar Jefree Star. His work will make you look like some super sexy cartoon character, or better yet like a f*ckin rockstar.

I love your work Justin. You Rock!!

Battle of the “It” Girls 2007 (We Promise Paris is not Included)

24 Aug 2007

raquel
I think it’s safe to say, the “It” Girl factor will never wear off . Artists will always need muses and young, career-free girls who play dress up in designer goods, Manolos and vintage are a tempting target. It makes sense (of course sometimes it doesn’t. Two Words. Paris Hilton.).

Before these girls can legally have a cocktail, followers all over the world are creating fan sites dedicated to them. They are stalked at clubs by groupies and wannabes. In one weird case someone had custom wallpaper with an “It” girls photo plastered all over their room. Some of these chick-a-dees create and participate in art, some attend amazing colleges and build a highly respectable education, while others endure in a star f*cking, trainwreck of a life, spending their time dropping names to Holly-weird nobodies at any event offering a photo-op???!!!

But fashion is surface at the end of the day, so head over to Angel Lust PR and vote for your fave “It” Girl on the rise in the poll section. We are featuring Cory Kennedy, Ponellie, and the alternative model Raquel Reed (aka bff to Jeffree Star).

cory
Doe-eyed Cory Kennedy (at right) is one such “It” Girl, rising in internet popularity in the Cali club scene. In addition, the girl rights for alternative style bible Nylon and is a frequent target of nightlife photographer Cobra Snake. You can check out her blog which features a full stock of her hipster style. She’s probably best defined as the Chloe Sevigny of our generation. You know it’s true cause Vincent Gallo is all over her jailbait appeal.
In any case, the bad-girl, rehab, convict crew is running out of tabloid space and it’s about time. These mid-twenty socialites must feel threatened as it seems they are making a last ditch effort to befriend the up & comers. You better watch your backs indie “It” girls or Britney Spears will be calling you to babysit.

Fame can offer so much, but too much to soon will destroy you in the worst of ways. Just be smart and try to remain down to earth. Ah, who am I kidding. Work it girls, I would!!!

Marc Ecko Supports Indie Talent!!!

Marc Eckodavid

Media mogul style icon, Marc Ecko hand-picked the indie elecktro rock band, Apes and Androids to play at his World Yacht party last night. You may remember my little review on their amazingness on Fashion Indie a couple of weeks ago. (Yeah, I know. I’m on top of my game.)
After thanking Marc for picking them to be the lead at his bash, I asked what it was that initially drew him to the makeup clad rocker kids. “They are GREAT, absolutely authentic with genuine style all their own.” he answered.

I then asked him to tell me which up and comers he truly believed in the fashion community and he replied,” SOOO MANY, I’d need a notebook to write every name down!!!” So I said, ” Just give me two names, I’m writing for FASHION INDIE, tell me now!!!”

“OK” he said, “Duckie Brown , Cloak & Dagger

Not bad Indies. If you got Marc Ecko giving you a shout out, or even better, a show, the only place you’re headed to is the top.

If you want to read more about the bash & see some exclusive pictures visit me at ANGEL LUST PR!!!

A Brief Kiss by Fame: The Newest MySpace Phenom

13 Aug 2007

pony2
pony
This is a girl I met on MySpace on one of Linday Lohan’s (yes, I friended Lohan) many deleted accounts. She was at the top of the list and all the sudden she had 50 thousand friends. She is a MySpace phenomena whose style has gained her a touch of fame in the indie “it gal” sense. The designer of Mandate of Heaven discovered her online and before she knew it she was walking down their catwalk. I call her Pony and she is one of my many indie muses. She’s got it going on when it comes to style, the faux tiara combined with vintage says it all.

She is a fashionista genius. Pony has caught the eyes of many scenester and fashion photographers on nights out on the town and her photo will be splashed all over the blogosphere the next day. This little lolita is one of the most charming it girls on the rise you will ever meet. She’s Edie Segdwick minus the trust fund and disaster. She’s everywhere keep your eye out and watch what she’s wearing!
