But, lets be clear. Warhol obviously influenced Fairey and Fairey, if he did not influence Banksy, certainly helped pave the way for his fame (in much the same way Jasper Johns paved the way for Warhol). Furthermore Warhol clearly influences Banksy. I will not mention the others artists on your list, but... honestly more influential that Warhol?<br><br>Warhol did not do grafitti, but 40 years ago he was already playing with a lot of the same ideas that Banksy is. He was much more radical at the time. <br>Some of these being engagement and deconstruction of pop culture, interplay between anonymity and fame (he used to have assistants make some of his paintings so no-one could tell what was done by his hand.) He was also know to have basically approved of anyone quoting him even if it was not real. this meant that it was impossible to believe quotes really came from him unless it was recorded.
