Deconstruction has been an ongoing trend for many years. Designers shred their fabrics, put them back together and add the odds and ends of other objects. Maison Martin Margiela (above images from the Galleria Carla Sozzani Exhibit 07) has been creating garments that can be considered works of art for years. The bow-tie dress, leather glove halter top and playing card vest are some of his most famous.

Young designers are following suit, and Walter Raes is at the head of the pack. The vest made out of brown leather belts is too cool for words. Jump on these pieces boys; New York needs some down and dirty deconstruction these days.
