Greetings to Indie Fashion Lovers!
Hello everyone!
I am a freelance writer in work in reality TV in L.A., and yes, it’s true that
some of it doesn’t actually happen in reality. In fact, “reality” is often
an ironic term during production. Just a thought for y’all.
L.A. gets a bad rap for its fashion industry, even though it influences style in the U.S.
and abroad. Where else can you walk down the street in platforms, bell-bottoms, a tank top,
multi-layered bling, and enormous Audrey sunglasses during February, and it’s considered
as casualwear? That’s what I thought.
I recently attended the FOCUS tradeshow for indie designers here in L.A., and there
were some great Cali-based finds, including Talina Hermann’s downtown party duds
and San Fransisco-based Nicacelly, whose owner Nicole Markoff uses poets and rappers
as models.
