Runway: Gucci Footwear, Spring 09

Curtains have opened for a sneak peak of the Gucci 2009 footwear collection. The collection is disappointing to say the least. Frills grace countless high-top sneakers, composed of patent leather; it’s not a satisfying combination. Though some of the footwear tends to be much more reserved than the brightly colored skirts that sit on top of some peoples’ toes, the overall impression wasn’t fantastic. All in all there were too many aspects of the collection that went wrong. The color combinations on more than half of the shoes didn’t mesh well and although it doesn’t end there, that alone is grounds for a bad collection. The floral decisions made for some of the footwear creates a vibe that screams tourist in Hawaii. The collection gets zeros across the board; sorry Gucci.
