J Jones,

I understand where you're coming from when you say Murphy already has a crazy wardrobe. I'm sure she's doing her own thing instead of trying to be trendy. I just don't like the hats; it's not an attack on either of these ladies' personal style.

My apologies if the direction of the post is unclear. I was just commenting on people who shit on fashion accessories in general.

Thanks for your comment. And I totally agree with you on owl necklaces vs. silly hats.

I think your post is a bit of a misfire. I can't speak for the first lady pictured here, but the second lady is Roisin Murphy. I don't think she's trying to turn wild hats into a trend, or buying into some theory that wild hats are the next big thing. Do a Google image search - the girl has a WILD wardrobe. I'm not saying she's got an amazing style; sometimes her choices are dreadful. But I don't think it's fair to connect her with trendiness, either trying to start it or trying to follow it. She definitely walks to the beat of her own drum.

Further, I think this post is a bit disjointed. You originally talk about a style (or, in this case, an accessory) becoming mass-produced, but then you talk about putting a bad spin on a good thing. I think that those are two separate ideas. If you wanna talk about bad hats, just talk about bad hats!

My regards to your owl necklace - it's not fun for any of us when we find something amazing for ourselves that later becomes a major trend for everyone. However, I will say that I am personally happier that there are more people walking down the street with owl necklaces than with extremely silly hats.
