On December 27, 2008 I recieved my copy of American Vogue. This month it was the articles that got me thinking(and no it wasn’t the content but the titles themselves). “Anne Hathaway from personal heartbreak to professional triumph–sounds more like the latest US weekly. In addition listed on the cover was The Rules more sex, more fitness, more sleep which was discussed in the article “The Good Life”– seems like the title page on Cosmo, or a checkout counter weight loss magazine.I’m aware of the fact that American Vogue’s job is to be both upscale and commerical however in my opinion if you are buying American Vogue chances are you have some interest in fashion and when fashion becomes the latter focus, why continue buying since it’s essentially becoming the higher end tabloid, and lifestyle magazine which we already have plenty of. Fashion should be of upmost importance. Thoughts?
