With the economy showing no sign of a fix, a number of designers are heading off to China to tap into their building middle-class.
Nike, Levi Strauss, Joe Boxer and Anne Klein have headed to China in pursuit of its giant pool of new shoppers. Flush with paychecks from newly created factory jobs, these emerging consumers numbered 700 million this year.
Will this be the help that fashion so desperately needs?
