Lady Gaga continues her quest to take over the world, scoring Billboard’s 1000th #1 single with “Born This Way.” And to commemorate this milestone, she turns it out on the mag’s cover shot by Mariano Vivanco and styled by the brilliant Nicola Formichetti.

Lady Gaga Born to Be #1
Wearing a black latex coat by MUGLER and the cheek/shoulder “implants” I guess you would call them, Gags tells Billboard:

“It is a tremendous honor. To be the 1000th no. 1 on Billboard…I would be silly not to say this is the greatest honor of my career.”

“Born This Way” debuted on the Hot 100 at the top spot, only the 19th song to do so in the chart’s 52-year history. This is the diva’s third number 1 and sets both airplay and digital sales records.

Officially, no one else matters.

Story by Lester Brathwaite

I was center square from 1969 to 1978, during which I perfected the art of the zing as well as a crippling cocaine addiction. Bea Arthur was responsible for both. @LesFabian lester at fashionindie.com
