Large Pores Who Needs Them?

Large Pores Who Needs Them?

One of our readers wants us to cover the topic of large pores on our blog.

I think it’s a good topic that most of us never look into much. This is what I can tell you.

Let’s go back to basics first.

What is a pore?
In the dictionary it is: A minute opening in tissue, as in the skin of an animal, serving as an outlet for perspiration, or in a plant leaf or stem, serving as a means of absorption and transpiration.

In basic terms it’s a small opening of the skin.

Your pores provide the oils to your skin to maintain hydration. The same pores in our skin can become clogged, and infected making them appear larger than they really are.

Why do I have large pores? There’s only 2 main reasons why, its genetics and age. As you get older, your skin looses elasticity, which will make your pores dilate too. Also when pores become clogged with dirt and oil it over fills the pore area causing it to expand out.

What can we do to help minimize the look? You cannot shrink pores. But you can help minimize the appearance of them. None of these remedies are instant. So be patient and disciplined.

*A general tip for starters is wash your face with an antioxidant rich cleanser at least twice a day, by keeping excess dirt and oil off your face your pores will be less noticeable after time.

Exfoliate your skin at least once a week with a gentle scrub, by doing this you are removing dead skin cells.

You can even go to a spa and get microdermabrasion treatment.

The use of a foundations and skin primers will help fill in those areas that need smoothing too.

Lemon juice is a natural remedy some women have used, because it is a brightener and has a tightening effect when use on skin.

Steaming your faces can enlarge the pores and unclogged them!

Even toothpaste can be used to tighten up those pores, this works for acne too.

If anyone else can think of other remedies you have used please post it here.
