Madonnas No Longer an Icon

Madonna has always been a name that came with more than just the person. When someone says Madonna you think bold, daring, and most of the time, a woman who isn’t afraid to act 20 years younger than she actually is. Madonna has been at the top of the charts for quite a number of years and as soon as she begins to sink, she always does something to get herself back on the top. One thing Madonna has never failed to do is surprise us with her willingness to push fashion’s buttons and try to expand its borders.

Madonnas No Longer an Icon

As Madonna continues to pack on the years, controversy over her style has begun to rise. How can this 49 year old woman with kids remain in tight spandex and her famous cone bra? Well, the answer is that she really shouldn’t, but for a while, Madonna didn’t seem to care. Up until the last couple of months Madonna has broken out on billboards and album covers in the same outfits she has worn since she was twenty. Though we didn’t always agree with her choices, and most of the time we didn’t,  no one can argue with the fact that she was willing to plunge over the edge. She was a woman who didn’t care what anyone thought because regardless, she was an icon.

Madonnas No Longer an Icon

Lately we’re feeling as though Madonna has been taking the hints the wrong way. When we said dress your age we didn’t mean dress boring or don’t take chances. You can still be a style icon, you can still be daring and outrageous but there is no reason to dress like your in your 20′s. Clearly Madonna can only take the two extremes and we’re looking for her to re-evaluate. There are plenty of people who take there style with them to their death bed, they just had to readjust as they got a little older. There’s no reason to loose all of your character Madonna, just recognize your not seventeen.

Story by Marissa Moshell, Student

When I started this internship I was a quiet, innocent, polite girl. Now I find myself bashing poorly dressed celebrities and trannys thanks to the influence of Daniel Saynt. I am a huge Metro Station fan. My true inspiration for writing is my desire to gain equality for all lactose intolerant folks in the work place. My goal is to prove to the fashion world that we too are people and that we can change the world one Soy Milk mustache at a time!
