-Elizabeth Taylor‘s best friend

-closeted homosexual, his sexuality haunted him his entire life

-serious alcoholic and drug addict

-got into a car accident in 1956 after leaving a party hosted by Liz Taylor which permanently disfigured him; he would have died had Liz not scooped out two of his teeth from his throat

-Marilyn Monroe once said that he was “the only person I know who is in worse shape than I am.”

-often regarded as the longest suicide in Hollywood history
