MARCUS LOVES: Fjallraven Survival Gear

Marcus here. Come wintertime, I literally wake up in my Fjällräven bubble jacket. It’s global warming survival gear. Double-down, crazy comfy, and the best quality known to man, the coat’s lasted my enitre life.

The historic Swedish brand started as a hiking company selling tents and rucksacks with their fresh lil’ fox logo. They’ve been gaining attention in the states ever since selling their backpacks at Opening Ceremony. Now, they’ve opened their first flagship stateside (in NYC, located at 262 Mott Street) and it’s like a little slice of the homeland. They’ve got clogs, knits, long underwear… You’ve got to see it to believe it.

Story by Marcus Holmlund

Somewhere in between Oliver Twist and 70’s rock star, I’ve honed a look that’s often shocking to the onlooker. I refuse to be confined within the lines of menswear. To make sense of it all, look to those I’m influenced by: there’s Mick Jagger and Steven Tyler, Bowie, Janet and Michael, Prince, Amadeus, Jesus, pimps, beggars and stoners – confusing enough? All androgynous in their own right, they’ve inspired my every facet...I feel like my second mother was Miss Janet [Jackson]. I have her to thank for my appreciation of all things hip-hop and R&B. I’ve been deemed the 'little white boy that could' due to the fact. I’m currently studying Design and Management (with a concentration in fashion and pop culture) at Parsons The New School for Design in New York City and have interned for stylist Mel Ottenberg, Elle and V magazines, and PR firm Black Frame. My life goal is to become the next great fashion/music editor.
