Your article would have merit if ALL the parents you mention had been dropping acid and walking naked at Berkeley. Some parents are outraged due to the graphic nature of the sexual encounters and the amount of influence Hollywood has on our youth today. I work Primary Prevention for our local sexual assault support center and I can tell you that this is a generation that, thanks to the visual culture you are being raised in, are more and more engaging in risky behavior that has many negative and painful consequences. Look at fashion ads alone and you will find the message that girls and women are being objectified and turned into just body parts. Young ladies say sex is not a big deal and yet because of this attitude there are now 4 incurable STD's affecting your generation w/ a lot of ignorance about oral sex especially and the fact that you can get these same STD's in your mouth as well as your vagina. Our young men, due to how girls and women are portrayed in ads, music videos ,etc..are being bombarded w/ images of violence and degradation towards women and girls. Unforetunately this is why I have a job and will continue to have a job. There is nothing wrong w/ sex but sex saturated media does not deal w/ the real consequences of the attitude "sex is no big deal" or the message boys get that girls are here for their pleasure and if they dress sexy they are fair game to be sexually assaulted (especially when they are intoxicated) which is when a high % of rapes occur. Also the stereotypes still exist that if a girl has been sexually active she is to blame if she is raped. So know all the facts if you are to make mature and wise decisions of what you will take in thru media outlets, what shapes and helps determine your decisions about sex and yourselves. You are so much more valuable than the sum of your parts !
