Hopefully this downturn in the plus size market will finally provide these apparently fashion forward women some incentive to shed the kilos. Fashion is made for skinny women and adapted for larger.

By the way; before I get any replies that tell me how politically incorrect I am, I'm not saying that everyone needs to develop an eating disorder (clothes look amazing on healthy women too) I'm merely stating that for years much incentive for overweight women to loose weight was so they could fit into the nicer clothes. Creating this new plus size market that removes that issue is almost promoting obesity.

And they wonder why there is such an alarming growth in female obesity over the last few years.

This makes no business sense if it is a fact that the majority of women are actually plus-sized. Why would any store with an eye on the bottom line not meet the bigger demand? (Pun not intentional, I'm a solid 14w.)

I hope Penneys keeps it's supply of "W" sizes. While they tend to sell out faster than the regular sizes, I can always find something that looks great.
