Meryl Streep and "The Artist" Win Big at the 2012 BAFTA Awards

Feb 13, 2012 - by Lester Brathwaite

While music was celebrating its biggest night in Los Angeles, over on the other side of the pond, film was having a classy evening all its own. Meryl Streep racked up her second BAFTA win for The Iron Lady, but lost her stiletto on her way to the stage. The Artist, however, truly stole the show with a total of seven wins, including Best Picture, Best Actor for Jean Dujardin and Best Director for Michel Hazanavicius. With the Academy Awards basically around the corner, it's a safe bet that The Artist and Dujardin are the picture and actor to beat -- respectively -- and with this win, Meryl might be well on her way to claiming her third Oscar statuette. Full list of the 2012 BAFTA winners after the jump.
