Anna Wintour and co. will return to SoHo's Skylight Studio on November 13 to crown this year's winner of the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund.
Last year, Joseph Altuzarra took home the $300,000 grand prize and a mentorship, with runners-up Pamela Love of Pamela Love Jewelry and Shane Gabier and Chris Peters of Creatures of the Wind pocketing $100,000 each.
The 10-person selection committe recently added Derek Lam and Neiman Marcus vice president and fashion director Ken Downing to its ranks, which already includes Wintour, Diane von Furstenberg and CFDA CEO Steven Kolb. At the end of this month, they'll sit down for an interview with each finalist and take a look at their collection, before dropping by each finalist's studio.
The Fund has added a new hoop for finalists to jump through with a project backed by Tiffany & Co. in which each designer creates one-of-a-kind pieces to debut in October. This year is also going bi-coastal with finalists presenting several of their pieces at a fashion show at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles.
Started in 2003, the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund has doled out $2.8 million to 21 brands, including Proenza Schuler, Alexander Wang and Billy Reid. [WWD, sub req'd]
