3 Questions with Celebrity Makeup Artist Tina Turnbow

Sep 10, 2012 - by Emily Draznik

Last afternoon we headed backstage at the Erickson Beamon jewelry presentation for New York Fashion Week and got a chance to catch up with celebrity makeup artist Tina Turnbow. She's been known to make over A-listers like Amanda Peet, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Corinne Bailey Ray. This time around, Tina utilized all NYX Cosmetics to create a dark 1960's inspired look to compliment the Erickson Beamon jewelry designs and we were lucky enough to interview her for a few seconds.

FashionIndie: Overall what was your favorite product that you used today?

Tina: Im loving this NYX The Curve  liquid eyeliner. Its very specific and you can really get in there and make a really fine line. I havent found anything shaped like this and it really makes a difference.

FashionIndie: What do you see as being big trends in beauty for Spring 2013?

Tina: I think that its going to be a lot of no makeup-makeup, but I think theres going to always be a fresh glow. I think the skin's going to be dewey and from what it looks like so far, the eyes are going to be the focus for spring. I feel like the skin is going back to basic because fall had a lot of heavy dark lips. Now this spring's going to be fresher.

FashionIndie: What are you plans for after fashion week? How do you plan on relaxing?

Tina: Actually I have a huge wedding to do up in the Hamptons and thats going to be my work/vacation. I havent gotten away alls umber, so Im thinking its my turn to go the Hamptons.
