5 Cool Things To Do This Weekend in NYC
Jun 02, 2012 - by Jessica Lapidos
Happy Weekend! Even though the weather may be
slightly miz absolutely stunnsies today, there are so many reasons to get up out your apartment and do something cray. Like these 5 fun things. Personally, I'm heading to the silent citywide dance party...
TIKI DISCO! If you can make it out to Bushwick, there's a backyard party that sets the bar.. at $3 beers. Disco carries the day drinking and dancing atop a floor of wood chips, and a sea of sleek sweaty bodies. @ Roberta's 261 Moore St Brooklyn, Morgan stop on the L train. Every Sunday for the rest of the summer.
BEA ARTHUR & THE KNIGHTS OF THE ROUND TABLE! Whether your love of Dorothy and the girls that sucks you in, or the fact that this performance is part of the All New Talent Festival, this original play promises hilarity. New talent through June, $10 per performance @ Ars Nova 511 W 54th St, between 10th and 11th.
CENTRAL PARK SKATE CIRCLE! Hop on your skates! The Roller Disco is back again in Central Park. DJ in the middle, and sparkle-n-shining skaters grooving all around. Saturday, jam to DJ Lynnee Denise & DJ Young Starr. Sunday roll with DJ Misbehaviour. Enter Central Park on 72nd st and go to the middle, 2:45-6:45PM.
DECENTRALIZED DANCE PARTY! Pick up a radio
walkman (or I'm sure there's an app for that), you're about to silent BOOMBOX disco all over the city. The theme is ab fab - dress like you're headed to David Barton's Gym. The starting location has just been announced: Meet at the Circular Fountain 1000 feet south of Castle Clinton in Battery Park at 9PM. Bring transit fare. Wear neon. Follow the bananas.
FIRST SATURDAY! The Brooklyn Museum opens its doors to funk, soul, jazz, and of course art, as performances are happening all over the museum. Music starts at 5PM with Son de Madre.
