Karlie Kloss Gets the Silent Treatment for Americana Manhasset
Jun 13, 2012 - by Lester Brathwaite
Taking inspiration from this year's Oscar darling, The Artist, Americana Manhasset's fall catalogue, entitled "Speechless," features Karlie Kloss and Clément Charbernaud as silent film ingénue and star.
Known for its highly creative catalogues -- lest you forget Kloss and Simon Nessman brilliantly hamming it up 50s-style -- Americana Manhasset chooses its theme based on the season's collections. According to senior VP and creative director Andrea Sanders, fall 2012 harkened to the past in some way, especially the Twenties and Thirties, but with a modern twist."
In addition to releasing their catalogue come mid-August, the Long Island shopping center has also produced a short silent film starring The Artist's scene-stealing Jack Russell terrier, Uggie, who even manages to give the always on-point Kloss a run for her money.
"Its as if hes actually acting, gushed Charles DeCaro, creative director of ad agency Laspata DeCaro. He has this sense of timing. He gets it. Hes really a star.
If you're in town during New York Fashion Week, keep your eyes peeled in the back of your cab where the "Speechless" short will be playing on TaxiTV, thus finally giving you a reason not to hurl your stiletto at the tiny annoying screen. You can also catch the film on AM's website, which will also feature a silent, behind-the-scenes making of the catalogue.
But for now, slick down that bob and kick up those heels and for a preview of the "Speechless" campaign. [WWD]
