Anna Wintour Totes on Board at the Met

May 11, 2011 - by Lester Brathwaite

Vogue's leading lady Anna Wintour has been named elective trustee at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, making her a voting board member.

Wintour has been an honorary trustee of the Met since 1999 and has co-chaired 13 benefits since 1995. In those 16 years, she has raised approximately $85 million for the Costume Institute with last week's Met Gala pulling in $10.4 million.

In addition, the Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty exhibit has proven wildly popular so it was inevitable that the Met would eventually have to sell its soul give credit where credit is due. [WWD]
